CBS has essentially flipped schedule spots with its veteran comedy “2 Broke Girls” and newcomer “Angel from Hell,” moving the former up from midseason to a late fall premiere and holding the latter for 2016.
The fifth season of “2 Broke Girls” will premiere at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT Thursday, Nov. 12. That spot on the schedule had previously been held for “Angel from Hell,” starring Jane Lynch as a woman who claims to be the guardian angel for a young doctor (Maggie Lawson).
“Angel from Hell” is now set for a February 2016 premiere. It also means that when CBS’ comedy block moves to Thursday nights after the network’s Thursday NFL package ends, it won’t also have to promote another new show.
“The Big Bang Theory” and “Life in Pieces” move to Thursdays starting Nov. 5, and “Mom” (9 p.m.) and “Elementary” (10 p.m.) will have their season premieres that night. “2 Broke Girls” joins the following week, given CBS that much more time to tout its return. A “Big Bang” repeat will fill the 9:30 spot on Nov. 5.
