ABC's Desperate Housewives did manage to trump the NBC's Sunday Night Football in average audience. But alas football games run 3 hours, and the housewives are desperate only for one. The Bears vs. Packer game had fewer viewers and still nipped Housewives in the ad centric 18-49 demo.
Ratings for Housewives and Brothers & Sisters are down versus last year, but we have still haven't seen the impact of time-shifted viewing of these shows via DVR. While the DVR data won't likely have any impact on ad rates, it should clear up how many viewers popular shows like this are really losing.
