verizonlogo.gifVerizon reported today that it had added 212,000 FiOS (fiber optic) TV customers in Q3 2007, bringing its total to 717,000, which makes Verizon larger than all but 9 cable MSOs.

Each new FiOS TV subscriber likely means one fewer cable or satellite TV subscriber, and since cable subscribers haven't grown in quite some time the trend for the cable MSOs is worrying. Additionally, Verizon added 229,000 new FiOS internet customers, which is the kind of add on revenue the cable MSOs are counting on for growth. Another way is raising prices.
