Save the cheerleader save the world? We don't know about that, but we do know people watching Heroes on their DVRs made the difference between Heroes having a top 20 ranking for the week of Oct 8-14 and Heroes not having a top 20 ranking.
On a live viewing basis, Heroes was #28. In Live+SD (same day DVR viewing) it was #24, but in the Total Viewer Rankings, it was #20. Overall, DVR viewing did not shake up the rankings much.
Other than order, the top 10 shows were exactly the same. In fact, Heroes is the only change in the entire top 20. It bumped Extreme Makeover: Home Ed., #18 among live viewers.

I'm still amazed how all the talk is about Heroes when its ratings are dropping (from lack of viewer interest) and nobody marvels at how awesome the ratings for NCIS are!
