Negotiations Resume; New Writers Proposal Expected

proposal on new media is expected from the Writers Guild today as negotiations resume. Possibly a plan to tie payments to viewership.

Interesting historical perspective from Nikki Finke on how the AMPTP has changed from 1988. Conglomerates have replaced independent producers since the syndication rules were changed. Not clear how this changes the dynamic, but my guess is that it's not good for the writers.

More worries that an extended strike would hurt the pilot development process.

Strike-proof Big Brother returns February 12 and will air 3 nights a week. The resurrected Jericho also returns on February 12.

NBC will replace Bionic Woman and Life on Wednesday's with Law and Order (originially to air on Sunday) and bring Law and Order: Criminal Intent back to NBC from USA.

An analyst report thinks CBS would be hurt most financially from an extended strike.
