CBS Hangs On; ABC leads 18-49 & 25-54; Fox leads 18-34

CBS' lead in season to date total viewers keeps shrinking, and it's a distant #4 in 18-34 through the week of December 2. (10th week of the season).

Good grief. Some of these networks (namely FOX) will do whatever to spin a number. All you ever hear about is the coveted 18-49 since that is the only demo advertisers are interested in. But now, so they can be number one somewhere we have the data for 18-34. On the 3rd Tues. of the second month in the sign of the black bull with two identical horns with a full moon eclipse in progress we are number one. No wonder some shows are canceled three years before they premier…..this is so much BS that has to be met.

I'm not following FOX press releases, but unless they put out a press release about the 18-34 demo, there's no spin here. Just reporting of the Nielsen data, and we're not spinning it any way other than the way it is.

Observationally, it seems both ABC and NBC invest more effort into putting a positive spin on the numbers than either Fox or CBS.

Fox has done better this fall than they have in the recent past, but as Robert said, that's no PR, that's just the numbers.

With Fox being more competitive in the fall, plus the strike ending most scripted series early, look for American Idol to absolutely maul the competition and Fox to have a banner total year.

Yes, American Idol will boost up the numbers since america doesn't have anything else to watch. I think the premier of American Idol can even get 50 million viewers.
