Oz may have never given anything to the Tin Man that he didn't already have, but Tin Man gave the Sci Fi channel record high ratings with its miniseries debut on Sunday night. The first night of the six hour miniseries pulled in 6.3 million viewers. The previous Sci Fi record holder was part 1 of the 2002 miniseries Taken (6.1 million viewers).

A very bad Monday Night Football game had rebounding ratings, but although ESPN is available in almost three times as many homes as the NFL Network, the Packers vs. Cowboys matchup last Thursday only did about 33% fewer viewers than the Monday night game and placed 2nd for the week by a wide margin. Also of note, big numbers for CNN with the YouTube GOP Debate.

*sigh* I understand everyone has their tastes, but I'm highly disappointed that the same Spongebob repeats continually beat out Avatar, and not even the Day of Black Sun made the top 20…

And what do you mean by bad game? Did you not see that ball that just stuck upright in the ground? That game was highly entertaining to me…I could just be weird though.

It's sickening to see all those Spongebob Saturday morning re-run episodes continually make this list week-after-week.

Nickelodeon would be nothing without Spongebob and will definitely see Disney Channel finally dethrone them for the top spot in total day viewers once the show gets cancelled.

Thank you, Robert! I was seriously questioning the world. :D Really, I didn't think that such a big event could miss out on the top 20. Kudos to you for rechecking.

    I'm happy now :D

Daniel, agreed. I thought only 7 people had the NFL Network?

I wonder if we'll here about ratings from the NFL Network again this season?

  • http://tvbythenumbers.com Bill Gorman

    TV-aholic,

If the Pats get to 15-0 we will. The Week 17 Pats/Giants game is on NFL Net on 12/29. If the Pats are going for 16-0 in that game I guarantee we'll hear about the ratings. ;)

Which SportsCenter broadcast is it that gets almost 4 million viewers? That seems really high. Is that a tally for the viewership of new broadcasts for the entire week?

  • http://tvbythenumbers.com Robert Seidman

Eli, it was the Monday night SportsCenter that follows Monday Night Football (11:30p Eastern) and not an aggregate tally for the week.
