Talks Likely Off For Remainder of Year; War of Words Escalates

Our latest (updated today!) Show By Show Strike Status is here.

With no talks scheduled, the offline war of words heats up. First from the head of WGA East, "They lie. And then they lie again.

And from the AMPTP, "The writers of the future will suffer for many years..."

NBC has begun giving advertisers refunds for ratings shortfalls.

The TV Critics Association press tour has been cancelled because of the strike.

ABC has yet to announce its January and February schedules, more reality may be in store.

And finally, an amusing AMPTP spoof site.

Funniest quote from the Mediaweek article. “NBC used to be the upscale, quality network,” she added. “We have come to expect quality, iconic programming.”

Ah yes. How I mourn for the lose of quality programming like Blossom, The Facts Of Life, and Sister Kate.

The advertising refunds have nothing to do with the strike. They have everything to do with shows like Friday Night Lights, Bionic woman and Journeyman that have been under-performing.

It's not surprising NBC is trying to spin this as caused by the writers' strike however as they hope Wall Street will buy it and give them one more year with a cushy salary and perks
