What a difference a week makes. On Monday, 12/3, ESPN's Monday Night Football generated the largest cable audience ever, averaging 17.52 million viewers for that telecast. But last Monday's (12/10) match-up between the hapless Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints drew the lowest numbers (8.45 million) in Monday Night Football's thirty-seven year history. The previous low was also this year -- an October 15 matchup between the New York Giants and the still hapless Falcons. Will the Vick-less Falcons be invited back to Monday Night Football next year? We think not.
MNF was still the number one program for the week, but an extra hour (for a total of three) of WWE Raw to mark its 15th anniversary led USA to winning the cable primetime battle for supremacy.
