American Idol was back, and all eyes were on it, with over 29 million viewers. Otherwise, only a repeat of House and a new Law & Order were able to muster anywhere near half as many viewers as AI. FOX easily won the night ahead of a distant second place finish by NBC.
While one could argue that both CBS’s NCIS and NBC’s The Biggest Loser hold up OK given the formidable competition from Idol, that seems like way better news for CBS with a rerun than it does for NBC. ABC’s Tuesday night lineup is just plain not competitive. Although it will definitely gain some viewers back for Tuesday night when Dancing with the Stars returns, you begin to wonder if ABC shouldn’t throw According to Jim and Carpoolers onto the scrap heap before that happens – even with fresh episodes remaining.
Perhaps ABC should do just that, but it seems unlikely. It would appear that between now and the return of DWTS, the Mouse has thrown in the towel.

Once again, NCIS re-runs with high numbers (and so does House!) Great shows re-run well.

Once again, no one is watching Reaper. Ha. Like airing repeats against Lost is gonna help? I don't think so. Bring back Supernatural!
I still hate the CW.

Folks: Please, please, please – I beg of you – stop watching these reality shows. They are killing the Story/Writer/Actor/Director-driven dynamic that gives us the great dramas and sitcoms we love so much. The writer's strike is all about GREEDY PRODUCERS and NETWORKS who reap gigantic profits from sponsors and the yokels who watch these programs without having to pay for artistic quality. If you want to watch some jerk make a fool of himself, just pull out your old home movies or look in the mirror (gee that wasn't very nice… I guess i got angrier and angrier as I wrote).
