Garth Brooks: Live in LA led CBS to a nightly win in terms of overall viewers. The concert won the 9pm hour in terms of viewers but Garth held less sway with the "youthful" 18-49 demo, where a rerun of House was more popular. CBS trailed both NBC (which won the night) and FOX in terms of the 18-49 demo. But buck up Garth, you are still more popular than Friday Night Smackdown!, and I confess to being a little surprised to find that out!
NBC won the 8pm hour with 1 vs. 100. Friday Night Lights continues to struggle to find viewers at 9pm, but a new episode of Las Vegas was competitive in the 10pm hour against ABC's 20/20 and a rerun of Numb3rs on CBS. Numb3rs won the hour in terms of viewers, with Las Vegas taking the demo. Reruns of CBS dramas continue to garner more viewers than repeats of ABC's dramas (compare the numbers for Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs vs. Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives). Seems like it has been a pathetic January for the Mouse network.

NBC tried yet another relaunch of FNL, saying how a new audience would discover it because of the strike, and thee we are, still the same awful ratings (because it's still the same bad show if you ask me!)
Well Rena, to be fair, you should say the same awful “live” ratings. FNL adds another 25% typicaly to its audience when you add in Live plus 7 ratings, and since that audience is so attractive demographically (translation: young, educated, and rich), the show stays on the air. And that is very very good news for those who love this incredible show.

No disrespect meant, but I really find it difficult to understand anyone finding this show “awful”. On the contrary, few shows have been this good, although there were a few. “St. Elsewhere” was one…”Hill Street Blues” was another. But dare I say in all my years of TV viewing, if I absolutely had to pick my number #1, Friday Night Lights would be it. I pray another network picks it up. If there were a FNL Fund, I would send my check in now……….

There were rumors of an FNL pickup by ESPN in the fall, but nothing recently.
