Scoreboard for Fri, Feb. 8, 2008 NBC FOX CBS ABC CW
Total Viewers (million) 6.72 6.44 6.29 4.68 3.78
Rating/Share: Adults 18-49 1.9/6 1.8/6 1.6/5 1.3/4 1.1/3

A repeat of House was the most watched show among new episodes or reruns on yet another lackluster Friday night of television viewing.   Nonetheless, the peacocks at NBC won the night in terms of overall viewers and the 18-49 demographic.

Sadly for many Friday Night Light fans, the last new episode performed worse than any other show on NBC for the night and, for that matter worse than most other shows not airing on The CW or ABC reruns.  Speaking of the CW, we alerted you yesterday that The CW is not renewing Friday Night Smackdown! and it seems as though its fans rebeled.  This week's Smackdown had 860,000 fewer viewers than last week's episode and while that might not seem like much, it's off almost 19% from its generally fairly consistent performance.

House performs better in reruns on Friday nights than anything else, but as is usually the case, CBS shows do better in repeats than their counterparts on ABC and NBC.  To that end, a repeat of Moonlight had more viewers in the 9pm hour than a rerun of Desperate Housewives and it had more viewers than the repeat of Grey's Anatomy at 8pm, as well.  Moonlight also outperformed the new installment of Friday Night Lights, though as is the case even when there are new episodes, Moonlight underperformed both Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs.

Some would say NBC's Las Vegas is well past its prime and on its last legs.  They're either wrong, or the night is just so lackluster that it winds up serving as the equivalent of a shot of human growth hormone (HGH) for Las Vegas, allowing it to continue longer than it reasonably should have been expected to.  We can't help wonder whether Las Vegas is Roger Clemens favorite show on Friday nights (or perhaps, his wife Debbie, who is allegedly no stranger to HGH), but regardless of the hows and whys, Las Vegas won the 10pm hour in both viewers and the 18-49 demographic.

Sigh, I like Friday Night Lights but it appears it's done. Maybe the CW picks it up or possibly ESPN (There was a report a few weeks ago that said ESPN is looking into it)

Maybe USA? Keep it in the NBC Uni family?

Although I am disappointed we won't see any new episodes of Moonlight before this fall, I knew it was coming. I do hope they make an official announcement soon regarding the shows' future.

Another network has to pick up FNL, it's just that simple. :(

I hope NBC comes to its senses and fast. This show is far too good to let go. If it doesnt work in our favor hopefully another network will pick it up. I dont care which or in what time slot. I would get up at 3:00am and watch it if need be. What would Riggins do?????? He wouldnt sit by and let this happen. Look at the lenghts he has gone to to win Lyla over…We need to be that persistant, too. Send letters, emails, etc. Keep posing to all blogs/boards daily!!!!!

I don't watch FNL, but those are pretty good numbers up against a couple of big dogs in Desperate and House (even if they were reruns). NBC might be wondering what it would do against the normal stuff ABC and FOX might throw up on a Friday night once the schedules settle back into their normal routine.

its good to finally see more FNL supporters. We need someone to make a savefridaynightlights.com or something. If Jericho can do it(which im glad it did) than so can FNL. or put it on USA just like they did with Law and order CI.

I don't understand how more people could watch Las Vegas than Friday Night Lights. Why choose mediocrity over a compelling, well-acted show?
I truly hope NBC saves this quality show.
