Well, I think the biggest disservice was sticking it after BB. A show which I can't stand but which actually has caused people (generally parents) to get lividly angry about if brought up in conversation. People really really HATE that show. Sure it has it's "niche" viewers, (gee, god forbid you get only one group of niche viewers) but the rest of the people just hate it. I can't say that about Jericho. The people I got to watch it this year, simply hadn't heard of it. (Which tells you something about the promotional efforts previous to, oh, Episode 5 of Jericho this season.)

What's funny is, I'm a huge life long Star Trek fan and Jericho gives me the same "aura" as the ST shows. And in fact, is pretty close to supassingmy love of ST or at least equaling it. So, honestly, it all depends on what suits different people.

Agree with Patsy, the very reasons you don't like it I do. And yeah, LOST has mystery but I've become very very doubtful if it isn't just mystery for mystery's sake and THAT is boring.

Nothing is going to save this show except the producers moving it to a different network and everyone taking a nice big paycut. Which I don't see happening.

...then again...I guess we should all just let the anger go...and let Jericho go, if we have to. It just seems like a losing battle now. This show was just obviously not a good fit with the other CBS offerings. They do promote their flagship shows well. For whatever reason, Jericho just wasn't happening.

As I have mentioned before, I think our anger really IS best directed at the network who assumed that the fans were going to go out and "recruit new viewership for the broadcast" without promotion, without a decent timeslot, without re-airing Season 1 up against the beginning of Season 2, without catch-up eps, etc, etc. JD and David, I completely agree with you. It is hard for me to feel ANY kindness for CBS any more, when they tout the success of "juggernauts" like Idol and Lost as their benchmark. Then, they don't look at what those two networks are DOING to promote those two shows. Heck, Idol is broadcast and promoted so often, it needs its own network. And, there were so many reruns and catch-ups of Lost (they STILL air the previous week's ep right before the current week's ep!), I thought I would just about scream. But, hey...it grabs the new, or previously casual, viewer; and makes them a fan. CBS, stop making excuses for your complete lack of promotion and marketing skills.

I think Jericho and Dexter on the same night would be a cool match up. Oh how I love those two shows.

I always thought that Sunday night at 8pm would have been the plumb spot out of all of them. X-Files did great there, the majority of people aren't working and it's early enough to stay up to watch. Maybe Jericho would always have struggled, I don't know, but it's obvious that the way CBS handled the broadcasts did the show no favors whatsoever.

I'm not sure that CBS wants Jericho to succeed. Tuesday after Big Brother is not a good time spot. I don't think the Big Brother audience and the Jericho audience are the same. Plus it put them against Law & Order SVU -- a proven success for NBC. Not to mention that time period has not done well for CBS with other shows either (as Marc Berman puts it, "the cursed Tuesday 10 p.m. hour"). Also, they have had no continuity with Jericho's day or time: Wednesday at 8, Friday at 9 and now Tuesday at 10. They didn't rerun in the off season allowing new viewers to catch up, nor did they do a catch-up edpisode before the new season started. In a series that builds its plot from episode to episode, it's imperative to provide new viewers with basic information on the things they've missed so they understand what is going on.

If they wanted the show to gain an audience and have success they would have aired a catch-up episode before the season premier and moved it to Thursday at 10PM (to ride the back of CSI). If I was Les, that's what I would have done.

Although I hate to read what you write, simply because I hate reality in this instance, I agree with your every point. I love Jericho, I did from day one, but the facts are the facts. This show just doesn't have the viewers to warrant a season 3 on CBS.

Truthfully I'll probably drop off watching TV for another few years, since Jericho is all I watch anyway. I'd be surprised if CBS renewed this show and I'd wonder what in the world was going on behind the scenes to make that happen. It's really almost too much to think about, the fact that there are two more episodes of my most favorite TV show ever, and that's all I'm ever going to get. I wish I could get into Survivor, A.I., LOST, 24 or 2 1/2 Men, or any other high rated show, but I just can't. I caught Jericho by chance the very first night, got hooked, and here I am today, riding this show into the ground.

Thanks for your factual, unbiased reporting on our show. I have always appreciated it.

I wish I could get into Survivor, A.I., LOST, 24 or 2 1/2 Men, or any other high rated show, but I just can’t. I caught Jericho by chance the very first night, got hooked, and here I am today, riding this show into the ground.

Thanks for your factual, unbiased reporting on our show. I have always appreciated it.

I have to agree with everything Robert said. Except for the klingons,I don't like star trek. Jericho just doesn't seem to reel me in which is weird because the main plot would be my kind thing.

Robert thanks again for the great site. By the way, do you have the DVD sales numbers or where can I get that? When do you think in the future that certain things such as ITunes and internet viewing will cause an impact on television shows overall performance ratings?

Robert,

I am a big fan of the show. What you've written is not very uplifting, but it's a reality check to the rest of us fans. But what you find unappealing in the show is what causes the rest of us to go crazy about it. The "run-of-the-mill" interactions of the characters allow the fans to somewhat put themselves into the character's positions. The "averageness" of the main characters is it's selling point. Other shows have aliens, robots, and superhumans. Jericho paints a picture of ordinary people banding together to do what's right against impossible odds. So to you, that might not be very intriguing. But to a LOT of people, it is a high point in all the other unrealistic bull that is being shown. The outlook for the future of the show on CBS isn't bright, but we're all hoping that it can continue somewhere else.

But I think the idea of nuclear disaster and the subsequent society was poorly handled. The writers seemed to approach interesting points but never fully develop them. Take the New Bern-Jericho war for example. It only came into focus in the 21th episode, then died out in the second season premiere. I'd be happy if the show will continue but I'd be OK with a decent closure also.
