It's people like you that start blog wars. Loyal Jericho fans are smart enough to sense that bull**** and ignore you like me which is why I'm keeping my comment short and simple to save myself time and anger(that you seem to hope to get out of these loyal Jericho fans) and to let all you know there will be a season 3 of Jericho!

I tend to agree with Robert. I think the show is dead this time, and hold little hope that it will return again. If I'm wrong (and really hope I am) I'll bring the hedge trimmer.

My wife and I have determined that any show that Skeet is in will be well worth watching and doomed for cancellation. Miracles anyone?

Gerald McRaney was wonderful in JERICHO and the main reason I watched the show.
I think hiring him was a very good idea.
He was greatly missed in season 2.

I dont think any network is going to drop 20 million on a show that doesnt bring in enough viewers to justify that sort of expense. You would need to have just about every Ipod user in the US to makeup for lost ad revenue (since Itunes doesnt show ads).

You all can sign the petition to bring Jericho to Sci-Fi at this website-

http://www.petitiononline.com/saveJeri/petition.html

I also went to Sci-Fi channel's website and sent them an email through their feedback link at the bottom of the page. Anything we do might help!

I don't really know anything about budgeting, or if it'd be a good move for the network, but I think Jericho would fit in nicely on TNT with the Closer and Saving Grace.

Is that something that could be possible?

Jericho is expensive *relative to the rest of the lineup.* Unscripted shows don't need teams of writers, editors, and so forth - they need a small crew to string together the various events into a coherent narrative, but they don't need the kind of writing that a scripted show does. Actors are more expensive than getting some jerkwads off the street to come in for a couple grand and a shot at a new car. You just need *more stuff,* relative to an unscripted show. Jericho may cost less than CSI or NCIS, but those also brought in waaaaaay more viewers.

Yeah, I'm one of those Jericho rangers who say "never say never." I'll continue to fight for a quality tv show. Hey, which beach are you on? If you're in south Florida I'd make a point to kick sand on you!! Just kidding! I enjoy your remarks however skewed they may be.

As we all know, money talks. Part of the problem with Jericho is not the budget for special effects. After all, it couldn't cost that much to do some of the explosions we saw. The problem lies within the casting of the characters.

When you have big names like Pamela Reed and Gerald McRaney, regardless of their age, of course their salaries are going to be high. Combine them with Skeet Ulrich and Esai Morales and you can only imagine what it must cost to keep them. The rest of the cast is relatively unknown, except for Ashley Scott from Birds of Prey, as well as D.B. Sweeney.

I'm not trying to attack the actors, but a lot of this boils down to celebrity ego, who's getting what and who's not. The only reason Pamela and Gerald were let go was because it COST too much to keep them in every episode.

I think part of Robert's post is to point this out. I'm not saying you don't need a couple big names to headline a show, but I think Jericho was a bit ambitious (and dare I say it, pretentious) with their casting choices.

It would've been wiser for them to try and go with an unknown cast because they would've saved even more money. Thus, keeping costs lower. Part of the reason some shows survive is not because of how many viewers it gets or how big the effects are, it's cost. CBS will probably order another season of Moonlight not because it's the best show on television, but because they don't have so much money invested in it as there was for Jericho.

Money was a major factor in CBS' decision.

I can be objective. This is the same person that made a remark about Julie Chen and Les Moonves (and how it's not just business), which never got published for some reason.

With that said, I would still love to see it come back, if ever, because it really was one of those shows that was about standing up for what you believe in.

Hey, this guy is giving the ratings breakdown and is giving an objective view. He also took the time and effort to watch every single episode so at least knows what he's talking about. Some people I know just look at the numbers and say the show is stupid or not good enough because it doesn't attract viewers. I've also been burned in the past with cancelled shows so I think I have an idea of what you fans are feeling. I completely share Robert's opinion on this matter and I also thought the second season was good. Especially the finale.
When Firefly got cancelled at least they got the movie Serenity. Although it tanked it added so much to the story and we got some legendary fight sequences thanks to a certain little lady who's name I don't even have to mention. I hope you guys get something similar in the future.

Steve, thanks. My opinion is that it had nothing to do with CBS' inability to value DVD, DVR and iTunes/unbox sales and web numbers properly. Unlike me, CBS has all of that actual data (well we have the DVR data, but otherwise...). With the DVR stuff Jericho had pretty good numbers but even adding them in, it wasn't enough to save the show.

In the case of DVD and iTunes revenue, from what i gather (unverified, couldn't get good numbers for either) it was peanuts. But there are fairly reliable sources for weekly DVD sales, and Jericho never made any of those charts sadly.

Robert,

I am a huge Jericho fan and don't share your opinion that the show is finished, but do appreciate the fact that you are willing to "mix it up" with your detractors. How much of the cancellation had to do with the fact that the networks can't properly value DVD, DVR, iTunes and web #'s? As many have said, regardless of what happens with Jericho, one of its legacies will be how these new mediums must be included in evaluating a show.

@Robert: I think you misspelled your intended misspelling of my last name. But you should have changed it from Seamen to "Anonymous Coward" since that's what you are. No need for any expertise in figuring that out.

I never called myself an expert (and still don't!). I believe I'm as right about this as I was about calling CBS' cancelling Jericho based on the season 2 premiere numbers -- but that didn't require any real expertise either.

@Jerichofan - thank you, and I really do hope your dream comes true.

@Danielle, it doesn't bring me joy to offend anyone or hurt anyone's feelings. I don't mind people disagreeing with me though and I'm not manufacturing opinions to rabble rouse, they happen to really be my opinions!

@David -- watching tv a LONG time (if all my life is a long time). But writing about TV is new for Bill and me. The site really was born out of one of our regular lunches that have been going on for quite a few years now (see the "about" section in the site nav). Now..off to the beach :)

By the way, Robert. I assume you've been doing this for a long time. Has there ever been a show that had the, uh, <i>type</i> of fans that Jericho has? I mean, hoping against hope, seeing conspiracies where there aren't any, etc, all because they'd rather die than lose their show? Just curious...
