You also made a great point about possibly being played.

But dosent everyone play everyone to get what they want in general sense?

We want the show
She wants to get paid
She says go and try to help.

(i actually dont think this is being done. I believe she is giving it her all for us)

Interesting point through

David -- not really. I think Carol must "love" the fan support, but loving the fan support and caring about the fans are two different things.

The notion that her ego here is any smaller than a network executive's though is complete folly.

My opinion is she uses the fans to suit her purposes because it's the only card she has to play. A part of me finds this completely reprehensible, but on the other hand it is the only hope she has of actually saving the show -- which is what the fans want. It's a bit of catch-22.

if Barbee and Turtletaub each took 50% paycuts, perhaps Ulrich and James wouldn't have to. That's also in the realm of: not bloody likely.

Robert, you mean Carol knows that the fat lady has sung her song and that's just ACTING like there's hope so that we Jericho Nuts won't all collectively be jumping out of windows? That did occur to me, the "let them down easily" approach. I just think Ulrich and James are too "big" now to have to accept a 50% pay cut.

I sure wish they would though.

Christine, their paycut got the cost down from like 3 million per episode to just north of 2.5 million per episode and I'd argue 100% of that almost was from killing off Gerald Mcraney. They need to cut the remainder in half to make it work on SciFi. Not bloody likely.

BTW, Carol began her Hollywood career as an actress. I'd submit that she's "acting" now.

Bill, I never said it was all about the money. The producers and actors took a pay cut because they wanted to continue with the Jericho story. That is what it is about:the story.

Guilty as charged, I have not been to the Jericho fan forums!

And christinek, you at least recognize what many of the other fans do not.

It's all about the money.

That answers all the questions you might have.

Bill, If you went to the Jericho forum at SciFi then you would know that they accepted less money to do season 2 and would be willing to do that at Sci Fi as well. Sci Fi was considering do their own Jericho type show. But why not do the original with a built-in audience?

Christine,
If in fact there are talks going on between the producers of Jericho and SciFi, I think that instead of focusing your efforts on SciFi, fans should focus them on Carol Barbee and the producers and stars of the show.

There is nothing you're going to show/tell SciFi that they don't already know. They have all the numbers on Jericho they need.

My guess is that if there is a deal that is possible, and it is being held up by anything, it's being held up by the monetary demands by the producers of Jericho [or the relevant cast via the producers].

You should be haranging the producers with cries of "accept less money, we want Jericho!"

I'd propose that has a far better chance of success.

EDIT: Not that it necessarily has any chance of success either, but at least it makes sense.

I'm admittedly not a hockey fan, but I always thought that the point system was confusing, but had to be there to take into account the ties that were relatively common.

When the NHL went to the "no ties" system they could have gotten rid of the third column and the points system altogether and settled on wins and losses like every other sport [that matters] in this country.

Instead they just went to adding an *extra* point to any game that initially ends in a tie. Instead of awarding a total of 2 points, those games award a total of 3 points [2 to the winner one to the loser].

The third column lives, long live the third column!

I await the incoming beat down by NHL fans. ;)

I for one hope you are wrong about Jericho. I do know that there are talks going on with SciFi.They want to see our numbers. Go there now Rangers and sign up. There still is a chance. Carol Barbee also said that they wouldn't be in talks if the cast wasn't still interested. There is a built in audience ready to watch.
