Latest Weekly Changes in Season to Date '07-'08 vs. '06-'07

Weekly Change

ABC -0.32%
CBS 0.74%
NBC -0.08%
FOX -0.39%
CW 0.18%

CBS showed significant gains vs. last season in the most recent week with many of its top shows returning with fresh episodes and the NCAA tournament helping primetime ratings. ABC and Fox lost ground vs. last season for the week with limited new episode starts and feeling the competition from CBS. NBC remained surprisingly flat, considering that My Name is Earl was their only show to return last week with its new episodes.

Overall Season Total Change in Season to Date '07-'08 vs. '06-'07

07-'08 vs. '06-'07

ABC -7.92%
CBS -19.14%
NBC -11.04%
FOX 10.48%
CW -22.15%

Fox continues as the only network with increased viewership vs. last year. My guess is that Fox will finish the year at or just below 5% better than last year considering their current rate of decline vs. last season.

All the other broadcast networks continue below last years pace, CBS and CW by significant margins. My guess is that CBS finishes the year approximately 10% behind last season, which is also a reasonable guess for both ABC and NBC within a few percent.

Our chart shows broadcast network primetime season to date average primetime viewership for the 2007-8 season compared to the 2006-7 season.
