ZZzzzzz Friday night ratings! The most exciting thing I can tell you is that the CW didn't come in last in the 18-49 and beat out FOX in the age demographic. Of course it did so with its best performing show of the year,!, which it let get away (to MyNetworkTV) and it won't be back next year. CW thought it did a lousy job of promoting shows like who are aimed at 18-34 year old women.
But what really happens is that more or less putting the F in OMFG to advertise GG's April 21 return. I imagine it will be effective somewhat, sex always sells, but GG still won't outperform !gets its 18-34 year olds, and teenagers, but it all adds up to typically a million and half less viewers than watch . CW has taken to using <gasp> sex to sell . The CW's OMFG (they have a regular OMG version too), depicts a couple of the shows pretty human specimens
OK, back to Friday, CBS won the whole shebang, and every half hour of the night with Ghost Whisperer, Primetime The Price Is Right and Numb3rs. On its way out Amne$ia stunk it up for NBC, but didn't smell quite as bad as Duel on ABC. How long can it be before there is a Moment of Truth: Friday Edition on FOX?
Speaking of FOX, can we make the call on Canterbury's Law already? It's a shame because I've always been a big Julianna Margulies fan, but with those numbers it doesn't stand a chance. It got outperformed by a repeat ofin the 18-49 demo.
Miss USA shows us that pageants aren't quite what they used to be, but I might have watched the pretty girls myself had I been home and had the event not been hosted by Donny and Marie Osmond. It's not that I dislike the Osmond duo, in fact the reverse is probably true. I watched their variety show in the mid to late 1970s, but that's just it. Donny and Marie remind me of how old I am.
No middle aged man wants to be reminded of that while gorgeous 20 somethings are parading around. To its credit, the pageant did significantly improve the demo performance over Amne$ia, but NBC still wound up below the 2.0 demo "Mendoza Line" among 18-49 year olds - as did all the networks not named CBS.
