@Jon, I dunno. it’s possible Christine could be the highest rated comedy on ABC, and ABC is really trying to focus on women so tag-teaming Samantha and Christine is probably something they’d love to do. But I’ll be at least a little surprised if CBS gives up on it/let’s it get away.

But this one has some of the other earmarks…
Of dcourse it could be a ploy by the Christine people (with helpt from friends at ABC?) to get a bigger slice from CBS.

My understanding was that Christine was very unhappy with the way it was treated by CBS (don’t know exactly why).

Also, last night’s HIMYM (I also like this show) was a bit of a downer due to the plot line. Would normally expect close to a million more viewers for both of these shows (what happens when Monday Night Football starts in September?).

But, I thought it was common knowledge that ABC is negotiating to take Christine and build a (Tues/Wed? … hope not Thurs) sitcom block around her and Scrubs.

That’s fine with me because, Except for one or two shows, my Tues/Wed is boring.

I think the reason that BBT and HIMYM did worse was the competition. This week they had Bones and Deal or No Deal in the time slot. That took viewers away. Also with daylight savings time early shows will keep going down, as it stays lighter out. Both shows finished second in their time slots in the demos, so I wouldn’t worry about it. I think HIMYM will be back with BBT next season.

I agree completely with you about DST impacting 8pm though. But I don’t know if BB would perform as well as Christine or Rules of Engagement at 9:30 — that’s why I said I’d love to see it air in that slot once to get a feel.

Otherwise, if CBS has to cut one comedy (and I’m not saying it does — I was just tailing on to Berman’s comments) I’m not sure the choice should be between Rules and Christine.

It is all daylight savings time. During the spring the numbers will naturally drop for all shows in the 8:00 hour. Also, Bones and Deal or No Deal came into the 8:00 hour and that is why BBT and HIMYM dropped. Those shows are still doing fine considering the time of year. In the Fall, when lots of people are watching TV again they will both jump up to normal levels. Don’t worry about these spring numbers.

After the previous two week’s growth for NA, I’m really surprised to see this week’s drop, especially out of a new episode of BONES, which I’d imagine would be as good a fit for NA as HOUSE.
