Latest Weekly Changes in Season to Date '07-'08 vs. '06-'07
CBS continued to show gains (+0.26%) vs. last season in the most recent week with many of its top shows now in fresh episodes and the NCAA tournament final game helping primetime ratings. NBC also showed gains in the most recent week (+0.24%) vs. last season as its entire Thursday night schedule is now showing new episodes.
ABC lost ground in the most recent week (-0.22%) vs. last season as the Desperate Housewives return was somewhat underwhelming.
Fox lost ground vs. last season for the week as the competition heated up and it had nothing new to offer. That could change this week with Bones and Back to You returning. CW continued to fall in the most recent week vs. last season. Did I hear someone say trainwreck?
Overall Season Total Change in Season to Date '07-'08 vs. '06-'07
07-'08 vs. '06-'07
Fox continues as the only network with increased viewership vs. last year. But with losing about 0.5% a week vs. last year, it looks like Fox will finish the year at or just below 5% better than last year considering their current rate of decline vs. last season.
All the other broadcast networks continue below last years pace, CBS and CW by significant margins. My guess is that CBS finishes the year approximately 12% behind last season, which is also a reasonable guess for both ABC and NBC down around 8-10%. The CW, which looks to finish down about 25% vs. last year, could cease to exist and likely only the fans of Supernatural would notice.
