I see Keith O. I see Keith O. doing his “worst persons in the world” segement. Who does Keith O. declair “worst person in the world” from April 23 – May 1st. I am looking deeper into my crystal ball. Now, who could it be ? Umm..I see a “B” then I see “O” then a “R”
Keith O. you are soooo predicatable from now until May 1st. Great ratings too, Keith O. !

O’Reilly will always be able to grind Olbermanns face into the dirt for the same reason that FOX news has higher ratings than CNBC and CNN combined.

I watch Olbermanns Worst Person in the World segment to get a good laugh and how stupid he can be. But today’s version of ripping Bill O’Rielly because he’s concered about the Miley Cyrus pics that showed up on the Net is over the line. I am concerned about that to, that she is not turning into another Brittney.
As for Keith…how can MSNBC keep him on…of course looking at the Network Ratings posted here…they don’t seem to care…Added note: please someone pull Miley asside and wake her up…
    Thanks

One other note…I wonder how Keith would feel if that was his 15 year old daughter looking like that…but probably not…

Joe- Why is Miley Cirus over the line? Keith was perfectly in line pointing out how creepy Bill O can be. Fox News is in constant use of gratuitous footage of porn, strippers, bikini clad sprig breakers, and half dressed teen stars. Bill O is the leader in this. Type “fox news decency” into youtube and let me know what you think. The show you’re talking about Keith’s first two stories were about injustices done to our troops returning home from war. Bill O talks about Miley Cirus. Keith has done plenty of stories about our diminishing civil liberties. Bill O – war on Christmas. Which one do you think is more important? Who should be taken serious? Fox News is the dumbing down of news. In the past the news did not rely much on ratings. So they just reported. Now they have to be ENTERTAINING for ratings. Fox does it the cheap way; sex & fear. As opposed to substance. This is done to distract you. Sorry Joe but I honestly don’t care about Miley Cirus. Didn’t Bill O come from Inside Edition? They also do plenty of shows along the lines of Britney and such. Maybe you should watch that one too?

  13. BO is winning the ratings war because he comes across as a more likeable, more honest broker of information, be it the entertainment variety or hard news. KO comes cross as an angry drunk in a clown suit. People watch BO and FOX News because they trust it more than any other source. Simple as that. MSNBC is happy with the crazy folk niche KO has carved out with the anti-fox, anti-bush, anti-American left. So be it. They’ve proven they can’t compete in any other market. Find a need and fill it. Capitalism at its finest. Just stop the bitchin’ about being dominated by some overwhelming force-it’s called the market place, dude. Learn it, live it, love it.

  15. Don’t ya think that KO plays the role of foam-at-the-mouth angry man just a little too hard? Nobody is a tool all the time-unless it’s your job, aka Howard Stern. Both play to the same know-nothing crowd and I think maybe truthbtold is right, KO plays to the crazies just to make a dent in the ratings.

Truthbold has shared one of the most insightful perspectives of the MSNBC’s game plan for keeping KO ranting at the 8:00 p.m. nightly slot that I have read on this thread in a long time. Phil Donahue and Rosie O were preasured out by being (over the top) liberal and controversial. MSNBC is delighted that KO is that type of opinionator that fills that small, but loyal niche of viewers to his eccentric railings. After all, it keeps even those who hate him tuned-in for a few minutes at least to hear his liberal slants, his selective outrage, his inconsistently reasoning so that those who hate hearing him will keep being remind just why they do so. I’ve begun to wonder how many on this thread or who check in reguarly to http://www.olbermannwatch.com contribute to his Countdown being MSNBC’s top rated program in prime time. Even his detractors contribute to his ratings, as modest as they are in the broad picture of prime time television.
Still, I wonder at what price NBC/MSNBC is paying for having such a guy sit in an anchor chair in this season of primaries.

As many times as he includes John McCain as his “worst person”, it will be interesting to see what they do with KO during the general election in November.

  19. Thanks for the nice words, Jim

How loyal is KO’s ‘crazy niche’ audience? Well, If Howard Stern’s audience is any indication (and it is) we will see a huge drop off in his numbers as soon GWB leaves office. Howard’s audience left once Stern went to pay radio. He never recovered that audience and fell off the national stage. They were more about ‘free’ than about Howard. Same will happen to political light weights like Mr. Olbermann. John McCain is KO’s Sirius radio. Without Bush, KO will have no format. His fans are more about ‘anger’ than about Keith. This will come a cold slap in the face. Take away GWB and FOX news and all you you have is the angry man in the clown suit.
