Seriously, though… the major networks are aligning themselves with major cable networks os as to exert more control over our widening choices. When, not how or where will be the thing as Robert and Bill have pointed out.

10 years seems like a good number, but remember, we were supposed to have flying cars and colonies on the moon by now.

While I don’t think anyone will ever chose to watch all of their television on a 3.5 inch device, it’s when and not if as far as people routinely watching video on portable devices someday goes.

I agree there will be a huge DVR surge, but over 10 years, I don’t know whether a.) that actually benefits ANY of the television networks or b.) whether over a longer timeline it benefits broadcast networks more than other networks.

But if the trend holds, the broadcast networks will have less and less cumulative share of overall viewing to the point where it’s as relevant to talk about USA, ESPN and other cable networks as it is to talk about the broadcast networks.
