I loved the way tonight's Boston Legal opened the episode, poking fun at both network scheduling and its own "on the bubble" status as far as renewal.
They even worked it in without having to break the "fourth wall".
Tonight's episode starts off with Denny Crane (William Shattner), Carl Sack (John Larroquette) and Clarence Bell (Gary Anthony Williams) all sitting around waiting for a meeting to begin.
Then, Denny starts the dialogue:
Denny: It's Ten O'Clock
Carl: Are We Not On?
Clarence: It's supposed to be Tuesday at 10 every week
Whitney Rome (Taraji P. Henson) enters the room...
Whitney: We've been moved. We're Wednesday at 10.
Carl: Nobody called me.
Whitney: They told Howie in Word Processing
Carl: They called Howie in World Precessing?
Denny: Are we Wednesdays at 10 from now on?
Whitney: No, we're off next week then on for the following two Wednesdays
Denny: What about next year?
Whitney: Best to just keep checking in with Howie
For those not keeping tabs, typically Boston Legal is on Tuesdays at 10pm. Tonight it was on Wednesday at 10pm, it's not on next week, and then back on Wednesdays at 10pm for two weeks. As for next year...what say you, Howie!?
