CNN kills the competish on election nights. why? My guess is that viewers who don’t normally watch cable news know where cnn is.

I agree CNN is the mainstream brand. It’s where regular people who don’t watch news every day go when there’s “big” news, be it elections, disasters or stuff like JFK Jr. or Princess Di

Indeed. And sadly for CNN, they vanish like smoke in the wind after the big events.
WOW…CNBC numbers AND morning show numbers? Please do this more often!!
I don't understand a couple of things..
1. What does P2 + (25-54) mean and
2. Fox beats MSNBC in every hour except for 11 pm…but is behind them in the Prime Time overall. How can that be?
Nielsen only measures people aged two and above. P2+ just is Nielsen shorthand for “Persons 2+ viewing” (total viewers).
25-54 represents the 25-54 year old age demographic which is the primary basis for selling cable news advertising. FNC wasn't behind MSNBC in overall primetime, either in P2 or 25-54. I think you must've read the numbers wrong.
I'm copying it..looks like Fox is behind MSNBC by these numbers
25-54 Prime Time
FNC – 583,000 viewers
CNN – 1,037,000 viewers
MSNBC – 678,000 viewers
CNBC – 86,000 viewers
HLN – 133,000 viewers
Ah, sorry you're right. MSNBC did come ahead of FNC in the 25-54, but they were ahead of FOX in the 25-54 demo two out of 3 hours so it's not a real surprise. (Primetime was 8p-11p), MSNBC only trailed FOX in the demo from 8p-9p that night.
