I would bet that the Writer's Strike, time-and-day, slot-switching and the NBA playoffs all have something to do with the fact that most shows are down in viewers, year-over year.

I've personally watched a lot more basketball and a lot less Network programming this year than in the past.

while i realize greys has slipped, and obviously it prob wont hit 20 million viewers again, i believe 15 million steady viewers is solid, and the demo is very good, so yes greys has gotten worse, no doubt! but next week i predict at least 16.5 – 17 million viewers, which would be nice considering they havanet hit 16 million, in a while either. so all i am saying is its still a strong show, that has slipped.

Cool.

2.93 isn’t great, but it’s not bad either, and Supernatural had a terrific season finale. I just hope they can sustain the momentum for next season, rather than what happened early season 3 with the lite-Supernatural.

Lilith was awesome… and that ending shocked and sent chills through pretty much every fan of the show.

JonV — if that sort of thing only happened once or twice, I’d call it an amazing anomaly, but especially with regard to ABC shows doing much worse in overall viewers versus CBS shows and yet winning the demo handily, it happens ALL the time.

So often, that there’s absolutely nothing anomalous about it at this point. The Office improved 14% in the demo week over week, and Earl over 15%. I’m not sure NBC would have hoped for much more going against new eps of Grey’s and CSI. I seriously doubt they’re disappointed.

Like 15 to 20% more viewers but 15-20% lower demo numbers. That is a full 33% (and more) swing over what would be mathematically indicated.

And.. for season finales, Earl and Office both had to disappoint.

I’m glad Earl did pretty good in the demo. I wonder if NBC kicked off their night with The Office, if it would be better for all of their comedies. I think that The Office can do even better with less competition at 8:00.

Must say that Supernatural was really good last night. (Made up for the ghostfacers episode.) Very creepy, yeah! Wish the numbers were a little higher. Maybe next season.

Yes, you’re missing the seven million fewer viewers this year vs last year and the 35% drop in the demo. Do you think all seven million will come back for the season finale? Relative to OTHER shows, Grey’s still does great. Relative to itself, however, it’s slipping. What does this mean? It likely means that for next season, the show will not be able to generate as much advertising revenue as this year. And in numbers land, that spells trouble.
