NASCAR Darlington Leads Pack of NBA Playoff Games

220px-nascarsvg.pngThe NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Darlington lead the pack of sports shows for the week of May 5-11, 2008 with a viewership of 7.8 million.

While the NBA couldn't manage a first place finish, it placed a total of 10 NBA Playoff games topped by the Sunday LA Lakers / Utah Jazz match-up. With so many of the NBA Playoff series going 7 games, TNT must be very happy. Those games far outdraw most of the shows it would telecast in their place. As for average ratings, I don't have the data necessary to analyze if long series increase average ratings, but my guess is that they would, with interest building for a game 6 or 7.

Our Sports Ratings combine the top Broadcast sports shows and any cable sports shows that appeared in the top 40 cable programs. It is possible that a cable sports show that had enough viewers to make this list is left off because it didn’t have enough viewers to make the list of the top 40 cable programs for the week which is all we have access to.
