We know the Moonlight fans are not happy about the cancellation. We're sure even they will be especially interested to see how Ex-List does this coming fall on Fridays at 9pm on CBS. The real question isn't whether Ex-List will do better in Moonlight in terms of total viewers, but whether Ex-List will outperform Moonlight in the coveted 18-49 demographic.
Although on one hand CBS claims that it doesn't really care about the 18-49 demo, but when it came to Moonlight they made it clear that they certainly do care about that demographic. The truth is, Ex-List could have 2 million fewer viewers than Moonlight but if it winds up getting a 2.5 in the demo, CBS will see it as progress. So the question is: will the Ex-List do better than Moonlight in the 18-49 demographic? We've created a poll to let you weigh in:
[poll id=3]
There have been several references to the promo for Ex-List, so in the hopes of making it easier for anyone who wants a look, here it is:

If The Ex-List is as terrible as the promo they have on YouTube I can’t imagime ANYONE watching it. A show about a whinney 30 something who can’t find a husband is pretty pathetic. Any woman in the 18-49 (or any age range) will just be insulted. It definatley won’t get the following Moonlight has. Not like CBS would care.

As a 22 year old woman, I honestly can’t figure out how any of the news shows CBS unveiled are meant to appeal to either women or the ‘coveted’ demographic. I viewed all of the available Youtube promos and found the Ex-List to be the worst of an extremely lackluster Fall. Frankly, it was an insult to my intelligence and doesn’t seem to fit with the times. I understand that TV is supposed to be entertainment and therefore doesn’t necessarily reflect real life but, besides not being at all entertaining, I don’t understand how they can talk about ‘strong female leads’ and then bring us this pathetic excuse for a woman.
It’s not the 1950′s anymore and life certainly doesn’t end if a woman isn’t married by the time she hits 30. The fact that this woman bases her love life on the word of a psychic and then proceeds to date all of her exes reeks of desperation, not exactly a woman anyone should look up to. Relationships usually end for a reason, leading it to look like this woman was just way too picky if she passed up her one true love (not exactly the fairytale, is it?). And seriously, just how many men has this woman dated? They obviously need her to have enough history to keep the series going indefinitely and that combined with how she talks about what exactly classifies as a ‘date’ makes it sound like she’s lived at least a somewhat slutty life. Once again, not exactly the kind of character or storyline I’d want to tune in to see and not exactly something I’d find amusing or comical.
Heck, the Ex-List sounds like the fictionalization of some kind of bad reality show. Just what the world needs, fake reality TV. And if this is the future all I can say is, thank god for Netflix!
Has any one seen the promo for this on Youtube??? It looks horrible. Its main character is a cry baby women who cries about wanting to get married. Its pretty sad that CBS thinks this is what women want. I don’t see how anyone in any demographic would want to watch this.

Just put the Ex List together with Project Gary and call it a season and move on the the next waste of time….
OH No way can The Ext List do better than Moonlight. HELLO Alex and Jason…HOT! Talented! The Ex List is waste of time. I’m not going to bother with it. Give us Moonlight! I’m a 30 year old female.

I fall right in between the 18 to 49 range and I will tell you this; my T.V. will never be left on CBS during Moonlights time slot. I will force myself to watch Deal or No Deal before turning on some show about ex’s. I have plenty of those in my life I don’t need to watch other’s talk about their ex’s.

I fall in the demo too. I can’t figure out why this is an interesting plot–we must be missing something. There must be a hook or something we don’t know about yet.

The ex-list has a familar chase plot, where a character is either running from or toward something. the problem is you usually don’t stay invested in the characters very long. The premise is that this woman has to find her true love, well one thing Moonlight had is one of the Hottest romances on TV. Alex and Sophie online chemistry was paletable from episode one. In the Ex-list she’ll be chasing down loads of different men so you can’t really care if she ever find him or not. Its a sad state of affairs when we trade an intelligent and witty woman like Beth who took care of herself most of the time for one that is hearing her biological clock tick and is chasing everyman wearing pants she ever slept with.
Example of a chase plot show – New Amersterdam. These shows find it hard to find and keep a core audience.

Moonlight is such a great show! Just cannot fathom what on earth CBS were thinking in cancelling it.
OH YES CBS YOU KNOW WHAT WOMEN WANT
WHERE ARE YOU GETTING YOUR INFO FROM…BRITTANY, LINDSEY OR PARIS
HAVE YOU EVEN SPOKEN TO ANY OF TODAYS WOMEN, I MEAN REAL WOMEN
SECURE, INTELLECTUAL , SUCCESSFUL WOMEN…I THINK NOT
SO TAKE YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR A-HOLES AND PUT MOONLIGHT BACK ON
CBS have dissapointed and angered millions of devoted female Moonlight fans. Most, like me, will not watch Ex-List on principle. How can CBS hurt so many people and not expect some kind of backlash?
Moonlight has it faithful fans that will not be watching Ex-list. CBS as well as the other networks have a habit of killing off shows for reality shows. There is a huge market when it comes to paranormal shows which have a huge following. As a author of paranormal romances, cancelling Moonlight when then promo for it on YouTube sucks, I am in demo age of 18-49 and my 14 yr old daughter loved watching Moonlight. What was CBS thinking??
How is the Ex -list supposed to appeal to women? It’s stupid..a girl trying to get hitched! boring….The ex-list being better than moonlight is impossible! Moonlight had everything…the hot men..(who do appeal to women, Do you hear that CBS!)..the romance..(not the cheesy romance the Ex-list would have)..and vampires!!
