And I'm pretty sure Univision is proud. It should be proud, too, but some of the other networks should be ashamed. In a press release headlined For Eight Consecutive Weeks, Univision Has Ranked 3rd or Higher In Overall Prime Among Adults 18-34 , Univision offered up a slew of data points, including these:
- For eight consecutive weeks, Univision has ranked 3rd or higher in overall prime among Adults 18-34 (1.1 million), currently beating CBS, NBC & CW.
- Univision out-delivered ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX every night last week among Adults 18-34. Also, Univision beat at least one of these networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX) on five nights among Adults 18-49
- On Friday night, Univision was the #1 broadcast network beating ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX & CW among Adults 18-34 (1.2 million) thanks to “Al Diablo con los Guapos” (Down with the Beautiful) and a 2 hour episode of “Fuego en la Sangre” (Burning for Revenge).
- Regardless of language, Univision had the Top 2 shows Friday night with #1 “Al Diablo con los Guapos” (Down with the Beautiful) and #2 “Fuego en la Sangre” (Burning for Revenge) among Adults 18-34.
- Univision had the #1 Friday night show among Adults 18-49 with “Al Diablo con los Guapos” (Down with the Beautiful).
- Univision ranked as the #1 primetime network on 28 out of 35 Friday nights this Season-to-date among Adults 18-34.

It’s sad that Univision gets away with these big ratings, or perhaps low ratings of the english networks, only with the undercover use of soft porn desguised as novelas. yes it’s great to look at beautiful women and all that, but the reality is that they are making their viewers dumber every day by running the same stupid storylines over and over again. All novelas are exactly the same…poor kid, get’s involved with rich person, they have an ilegitimate child, someone tries to take away the family fortune, etc, etc. and of course they run them five days a week!
If they had to compete in the english language world, they would not have a chance. Do you think ABC could get away with running 5 hours of desperate housewives everyday? of course not, the anglo audience knows better than to tune in for too long. once a week is enough. By the way, Univision’s lack of creativity in creating content has led to the, yes, a Spanish version of desperate housewives! as if they did not have enough soft porn on the air already!
Hopefully one day, someone will beat them.
Augusto, thanks very much for the information. Robert and I are intrigued by the success of Univision, but we’re the first to admit our lack of Spanish prevents us from being viewers.
Since the majority of households in the US that have Spanish speaking members have some English speaking members too, they also could watch English programming, so presumably the English networks are some competition to Univision.
I think it’s the fact that the storylines are so simple that make the Univision novelas appealing. If they were too complicated, my wife and I would have to tune in every night to follow it, but if we miss a night, it’s easy to catch up. We like having Univision on while we’re hanging out in the living room, but when we really sit down to watch a show, that’s usually something we’ve recorded like Lost. We are looking forward to the new novela starting on Telefutura on Monday night. It’s a Colombian novela, so should be a little different than the typical Univision fare.

I was so ashamed at the Doctors office with my child!!!!!!!! any how, how ever you want to put, american news are so bad that really who will want to look at them?? if you want to know what is really going on here or any other place in the planet , you will need to turn your TV off and find some other international channel to tell you what is really going on here, it is sad but true.
