I did not get to catch Fear Itself last week, but I did watch it on line and it was very good I thought. I made sure my DVR was set to tape the rest of them. Also its hard the Advertise a new show on a network that does not get the viewers to see what new shows are coming out. So you kind of lose out. and to boot there were sexy looking girls on Fear Itself too.

My own reason for not watching this years finals, even though i watched the rest of the playoffs...

Lakers and Celtics...two teams you love to hate...they've won so many championships

I think people watch because they want to root for their team or against a team they hate. For me, there's no real underdog to root for here. There's no team trying to bring home their cities first title. No CLASSY hero to root for (like an Olajuwon or Karl Malone) My team didnt even make the playoffs (heat fan) yet i loved watching the spurs v lakers, jazz v lakers, pistons v celts, and hawks v celts. I had a team to root for against the big bad lakers or or the celts with there seemingly endless display of championship banners.

Now with these two teams going against each other it becomes boring...I dont want either one to win.

Second theory.... people are tired of watching the games be decided by the ref's rather than by skills, hard work, and smart play. I kinda got the feeling that the NBA told their officals to make sure it was the lakers v celts in finals.... lol..i say that jokingly ....er half jokingly

Lastly.... games arent on TNT.....No Charles Barkley.....what fun is that... I think chuck should make his own sitcom with Kenny Smith.

But if you don't like you, you have the option not to watch it. I've never really understood people who want to dictate what should and should not air on television.

And really, the 45 minutes of the show that I watched showed nothing racy in the least. Stop moralizing over stupid tv shows.

nielsen can only account for television viewers. but one has to take into account that in this day and age, their are other (sometimes more accessible) media for watching television shows. from what i remember there were 160,000+ people streaming with me in one justin tv room alone during that game.

Swingtown was horrendous. People are prudes if they dont think dug use, wife swapping and group sex is entertainment? Not eveyone wants to watch soft core porn on network TV. A show like that belongs on pay cable if anywhere. Because of this show I finally learned how to program my TVs parental controls to keep the kids from watching that garbage if they happen to stumble across it. I grew up in the 70s and dont recally my suburban neighborhood being populated by sex crazed perverts. 8.5 million viewers isnt that great either. Dramas usually have the most viewers for the pilot then go downhill from there. Hopefully Sleeze-town will die a quick death.

Get off your highhorse. Just because you watch a show about vampires doesn't mean that you'll become one. Ditto for Swingtown - I doubt anybody watching turned off the show last night and decided to go out and find random sex partners in the park. It's hysterical comments like yours that keep creativity away from network television.

As for my personal thoughts on Swingtown, I really loved the 70s feel of the show, but didn't find it all that interesting. I was going to keep ym cable this summer if I ended up liking ST, but it's not good enough to justify the cost.

Times have changed. I loved watching Dr J. I tried watching the game from time to time and realized I only knew 5 players. This is the NBA's top matchup and it involves 2 teams from as far away from each other as possible that have a national following. The games start at 9p.m eastern to max ratings because the most important part of the game is the last ?? minutes and the other prime time shows are over. 6p.m. on the west coast where is makes it more easier to see the whole game. They pick good nights that people watch tv. This is the best setup to revive the NBA to where it once was. It did not happen and maybe just maybe fans are getting a little tired of watching guys who travel, double dribble, palm the ball and pat themselves on the back big time everytime they do their job. The best thing about the game yesterday was seeing the good DR J and Jabbar and Russell and remember what the game really was like, and not some guy running around saying hey look at me. The ratings will rise big time when the series finally gets going. If it doesn't then I don't get it.

Maybe it will take time but the actors on "Swingtown" didn't seem to have any chemistry with each other or individually. And the hair, there was something off about the hair and clothes that made the acting leaden. Even for a "swinging" part of town the jumping into bed and drug use seemed too abrupt. What it reminded me of was the old Marlon Brando/Robert Redford movie, "The Chase." It would be nice if shocking and wicked had some dramatic purpose. A little dramatic buildup would have been nice.

numbers will probably increase from here...id say if they get a 6 or 7 game series (good shot of it), that the finals average around 12-13 million. getting around 10 for game 1 isn't great, but on the bright side, they should only get better on sunday, and then swing some direct momentum into tuesday and thursday.

excuse me for believing in the sanctity of marriage and keeping my wedding vows sacred. And the show that you refer to about Vampires drinking blood, even the main character in Moonlight was loyal to his significant other. Random sex is definitely something that I would want my children to see on television. (note the sarcasm)

I guess I am a prude because I did choose to watch the show about vampires drinking blood and refused to even turn the channel to CBS to watch a show about multiple people having sex with anyone who would lay down with them. I wonder if they worry about STD'S. I am loyal to my husband and would not watch such filth.

Excellent beginning for Swingtown, and kudos to CBS for not giving into the prudes (yes, the same people who would watch brutal serial murders or vampires drinking blood), and aired something a little different.<br>I myself enjoyed the pilot, although I did find it too tame.

The real tell about "Swingtown" and "Fear Itself" will come next week - I'm very curious to see how many people return for CBS's trashfest of a show.

I agree. Maybe last year was a sign, the leauge top guy and "replacement" to Jordan (Lebron James) made it in the Finals and the NBA set all time ratings low for that series. Heck this time around, with all the hype and Kobe (much closer to Jordan) is in and the numbers appear to be pretty average at best.

NBC probably wishes they had a hockey game to televise. Less than 10 million viewers for the NBA is not good. This is their "dream" series. Long gone are the days of 20+ million viewers...and they ain't coming back it appears
