This over 40 person watched the Tonys and saw your add for the South Pacific CD and purchased it. Would not have done that if I had not seen the Tonys.

Variety's estimate has the NBA Finals with 17 million plus viewers last night.

So will the numbers for the NBA finals likely be higher because of the fact that it was live?

Your math is as faulty as your headline logic NBA and PGA did not compete head-to-head. But for the portion that PGA was in primetime it averaged 13.84. The portion of the NBA game that was in primetime averaged 13.55 or less than 13.84. Of course when the final numbers come out, including the non-primetime portion the NBA game should finally (barely?) eclipse 15 million.

ABC did beat NBC in primetime, but it did not happen the way you would lead us to believe. NBC “lost” for airing an SNL rerun, otherwise NBC’s sports two hours of coverage out-averaged ABC’s in primetime. It is interesting though that Tiger’s 18-49 impact is not so high.

I’m sure we’ll see partial numbers for USA and Lifetime for last night (L&O: CI, In Plain Sight, and Army Wives). At least those two networks will wipe the floor with the CW, and possibly be competitive with FOX and CBS.

Regarding CBS’s numbers: the Tony’s need to move to cable. The numbers were nearly identical last year and it’s not going to get any better.
