America's Got Talent had enough talent to narrowly edge the NBA Finals in the preliminary overnight viewing. Please note that especially for these NBA games, the time zone differences have made the preliminary reports practically worthless for the NBA finals, plus the last hour of the game isn't included in these numbers. For comparative purposes Sunday's NBA finals averaged 13.56mm in the overnight results between 9pm-11pm and when the final tally for the whole game came in it had almost 17.3 million viewers. Last night's game averaged 12.67mm viewers between 9p-11pm in the preliminary results. Update Noon Pacific: Variety is reporting the game was viewed by nearly 16 million people and was the second-highest rated game of the series.
But even if we know the numbers will change we can only report the numbers we have, so we have NBC winning the night by about a few hundred thousand viewers although the NBA finals dominated in the 18-49 year old demographic with more than 50% more demo viewers than America's Got Talent.
Hell's Kitchen remained formidable in the 18-49 demo, even against America's Got Talent and the Boston Celtics as they pummeled the Los Angeles Lakers to claim their 17th NBA title.
