Scoreboard CBS NBC ABC FOX CW
Total Viewers (million) 7.84 7.24 5.28 3.79 0.75
Rating/Share: Adults 18-49 1.5/4 2.1/6 1.6/5 1.7/5 0.3/1

CBS pulled in the viewership win with 60 Minutes (which was also the night's top viewership show at 8.88 million), Million Dollar Password and repeats of Cold Case and Criminal Minds, but as usual the demo viewers stayed away and it finished fourth for adults 18-49. NBC took the nightly demo win with the combination of Dateline NBC and more Summer Olympics Trials. Fox's repeat of Family Guy had the best demo performance of the night with a 2.6/7, and, as usual, the Fox animated line up over delivered for adults 18-49 to finish second.

Password took quite a drop. Apparently it shares more of an audience with Extreme Makeover than basketball?

  2. Indeed, that was a drop of 1M viewers for Password, lots more than a bit of attrition.

Actually, I think the .5 drop in the demo is worse than the 1 mill drop in viewers.

password could be such a good show… but if you seriously add up the time that regis takes to explain the rules over and over again, the time he banters with the celebrity and contestants, the time it takes for the audience to applaud every word, the time it takes for the contestants to pretend they are having a hard to deciding on weather or not to go to the second round. the show is only about 20 minutes long. and that’s being generous.

plus they don’t have any contestant run over to the next show so you know at the end of the hour they are going to lose or quit.

plus it’s really unbelievably annoying how regis yells out stuff as the person is playing.

AND no one will ever go for a million dollars. it’s too tough and not worth it. i would be shocked if anyone goes for 250,000. the game is set up so that once you hit 100,000 you have to stop. they might as well call it 1 billion dollar password because no one will risk losing 100,000.

Family Guy repeat and Dateline with the best demos of the night. Is it Fall yet?
