CBS took the crown for average prime-time viewers for the week of June 23-29, 2008 with an average of 6.59 million viewers. NBC finished in a relatively close second with an average of 6.30 million.

For the first time in calendar 2008, NBC won the adults 25-54 demo with an average of 2.80 million edging Fox which had 2.71 million. Another easy week for the NBC press release writers.

As has been typical during 2008, Fox won the adults 18-34 demo with an average of 1.25 million over surprising second place Univision (but admittedly less surprising each week) with 1.09 million. Fox also took the adults 18-49 demo with an average of 2.66 million over second place NBC with 2.44 million.

And while pitiful results from the CW have ceased to be news, it is interesting that this week the CW failed to average even half of what Univision did in all the demo adult categories (and just barely half of what Univision did in average viewers). Yet the CW and it's high powered PR gets 10x the press of Univision.

Do you think if 90210 doesn't work out this season The CW will fold? It seems like they should. It was an experiment but it seems some people at CBS and Warner Bros. have to be questioning the profitability of the network now. Do they even have any merchandising they can make money off of?
