The debut of CBS's Canadian import Flashpoint lifted it to victory in both viewers [6.78 million] and the adults 18-49 demo [1.5 rating / 6 share] for Friday night. Flashpoint itself looks to have done over 8 million viewers and a 1.9/6 in the demo from 10-11. Not too shabby for 10-11 on a CBS summer Friday night, eh?

Friday night was the Stargate Atlantis premiere. I thought it was one of the best premieres since the pilot. A lot of action, good drama, and a surprise cameo which I was shocked. The prodcuers seems to keep topping themselves. Hopefully you were able to catch the show if you are a fan. It would seem there was not too much competition so hopefully SGA pulled in some strong numbers.
Very impressive numbers for Flashpoint (better than I thought it would do give it’s timeslot and lead-in).
Flashpoint is on point, and I know its going to be the best show this summer. The direction, acting, action, and editing, all top notch, along with amazing details about what goes on in these situations. By far the best new show this year.
I am glad that CBS imported this show it is a very good show. Can’t wait for NBC to premiere The Listener now.
Maybe The CW may import some shows if some of their newer shows fail

It’s nice to see a US network importing a Canadian show and leaving it as it – and it being a hit! With the constant decline in viewership effecting ad dollars, it’ll be interesting to see if more Canadian shows make their way to US tv – cofinancing to bring down production costs. Canadian shows are at a great advantage because Canada is cultually seemless with the US (for the most part, and unlike other english speaking countries). Several Canadian shows are already in US syndication and Fox just bought the scripts to make a US version of Little Mosque on the Prairie.
Flashpoint stunk…flash in the summer pan
So what are those Moonlight fans saying now. CBS does better during summer with an imported show and at 10pm
Funny how none of them have commented yet, Robert.
Robert, Sandy and other Moonlight doubters, this is obviously an evil conspiracy put forward by North of the Border interests and their criminal Nielsen lackeys to discredit Moonlight. As the boys from South Park put it….
….Blame Canada!
I miss Moonlight………………………………..
“So what are those Moonlight fans saying now. CBS does better during summer with an imported show and at 10pm”
Come on now, we haven’t had much Moonlight spam here for a few weeks. Let’s not antagonize them. It’s nice not having all the comments be about Moonlight.

Robert, if you want the Moonlight fans back just say the word and we’ll be back. Otherwise don’t push your luck.

If Flashpoint holds around 8 million and doesnt crash and burn like Swingtown did, it will stick around for another Season. Of course, sometimes shows start out great then tank. Only time will tell on this one. FP is nothing all that new. Its ok, but I wont be staying home to watch it.
Flashpoint is on CBS, the station that gets the viewers interested and then cancels the show. Go ahead viewers, start watching, really get to like it. Then bam… out goes your show. Remember Jericho. Remember Moonlight.
“Flashpoint is on CBS, the station that gets the viewers interested and then cancels the show. “
Actually, from 1999 to 2007, CBS was the LEAST likely of the broadcast nets to cancel a show without a second season. 41% made it to a second season compared to 33% on NBC and 28% on both ABC and FOX (per The Futon Critic).
To Emily’s point, I don’t get the concept of being more unhappy if I watch a show that gets cancelled than if I never watched the show at all in the first place.
If I enjoy a show, of course I’m unhappy if it’s cancelled, but I was happy *while* I was watching it, happier than I’d have been if I hadn’t watched it at all.
A show’s cancellation doesn’t put me in some sort of happiness deficit so that I’d have been better off never having watched the show in the first place.
Good point Bill.
Especially now with Netflix and all the older series available online, I’m watching several series that have already been canceled, many before their time. The fact that the shows have been canceled doesn’t make them less enjoyable (though I will admit that I won’t always watch the last episode if I know it ends on a big cliffhanger).
