As far as Flashpoint, I watched the first 30 minutes and turned the channel. Bring back Moonlight! I've had enough of CBS's CSI's, game shows and crappy new shows, i.e. Flashpoint, Swingtown and Price is Right. Please CBS, BRING BACK “MOONLIGHT”.

Moonlight had 8.54 million when it first came out and at the end it was holding 7.5 million toward the end. It won its demo and hour every night. It won the Peoples Choice Award and CBS still took it off the air. So if Flashpoint is doing about the same… chances are that it is going to be pulled also.

Good point Bill.

Especially now with Netflix and all the older series available online, I’m watching several series that have already been canceled, many before their time. The fact that the shows have been canceled doesn’t make them less enjoyable (though I will admit that I won’t always watch the last episode if I know it ends on a big cliffhanger).

To Emily’s point, I don’t get the concept of being more unhappy if I watch a show that gets cancelled than if I never watched the show at all in the first place.

If I enjoy a show, of course I’m unhappy if it’s cancelled, but I was happy *while* I was watching it, happier than I’d have been if I hadn’t watched it at all.

A show’s cancellation doesn’t put me in some sort of happiness deficit so that I’d have been better off never having watched the show in the first place.

Actually, from 1999 to 2007, CBS was the LEAST likely of the broadcast nets to cancel a show without a second season. 41% made it to a second season compared to 33% on NBC and 28% on both ABC and FOX (per The Futon Critic).

If Flashpoint holds around 8 million and doesnt crash and burn like Swingtown did, it will stick around for another Season. Of course, sometimes shows start out great then tank. Only time will tell on this one. FP is nothing all that new. Its ok, but I wont be staying home to watch it.

It’s nice to see a US network importing a Canadian show and leaving it as it – and it being a hit! With the constant decline in viewership effecting ad dollars, it’ll be interesting to see if more Canadian shows make their way to US tv – cofinancing to bring down production costs. Canadian shows are at a great advantage because Canada is cultually seemless with the US (for the most part, and unlike other english speaking countries). Several Canadian shows are already in US syndication and Fox just bought the scripts to make a US version of Little Mosque on the Prairie.

Flashpoint is on point, and I know its going to be the best show this summer. The direction, acting, action, and editing, all top notch, along with amazing details about what goes on in these situations. By far the best new show this year.

Friday night was the Stargate Atlantis premiere. I thought it was one of the best premieres since the pilot. A lot of action, good drama, and a surprise cameo which I was shocked. The prodcuers seems to keep topping themselves. Hopefully you were able to catch the show if you are a fan. It would seem there was not too much competition so hopefully SGA pulled in some strong numbers.
