Hey Mr. Seidman, there’s a lot of discussion over at tvnewser about how abnormally low MSNBC’s numbers are….do you know if Nielsen may have messed up the numbers, or did MSNBC just flop last night for some reason?

  2. The_Anonymous, wow the numbers are dramatically lower. I’ll see if i can find anything out. If I do, it probably won’t be until tomorrow.

  3. What I hear is the numbers are right and that MSNBC just tanked for the night, especially KO and Verdict. I don’t have any idea why and don’t follow any of it closely enough to even speculate. If I see anything pertinent, I’ll post it here in the comments and update the post.

    Thank you!

wowowowoowow……HEY OLBERMAN,can you say butt whooped in the ratings.YOU better never ever again say you can beat billo in the ratings…your whole show is BUSH,mccain and oreilly…IF BILL GOES ON VACATION,OBAMA WINS AND BUSH IS OUT OF OFFICE….WHAT THE HELL WILL YOU TALK ABOUT FOR A WEEK????

dOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT HE’D TALK ABOUT?

  6. smh3477

No way. Essentially, the ratings are saying that, all of the sudden with no trends and warning, all of HLN’s #’s are now MSNBC’s and vice versa. Bull! Is there any precedent for a WHOLE NETWORK to just assume someone else’s rating patterns and for said network to assume the other network’s previous ratings SUDDENLY AFTER ONE NIGHT????

It doesn’t make any sense is my point. Not trying to be nasty. Juse extremely curious.

  7. smh3477, though I have no horse in this particular race, I’m with you that it seems odd. But I’m not sure I understand what you mean about HLN and MSNBC numbers flipping. HLN was up a little bit vs Tuesday, MSNBC was down a lot. That doesn’t strike me as a flip-flop. Even at 8pm, Nancy Grace’s had 100K more viewers than the previous day. KO lost about 600,000. There are some things I could ascribe to Grace’s recent rating surge. I have no explanation for MSNBC’s drops though.

smh3477 Maybe the Paris Hilton ads caused a few people in the tank for Obama to wake up.

I compared the 8 and 9 pm slots for Tuesday and Wednesday. The left hand column represents Wednesday night. The right Tuesday. As you can see Olbermann took a big hit as did Abrams, but the rest seems pretty normal. Some up…some down.
