TSCC will still beat the CBS 8:00 Monday night comedies this fall. Prison Break will be axed in May. So will 24.

Outlander, in TSCC's favor, at least for this year is the new Terminator movie. If that's still on track for May, it's hard for me to fathom there being no TSCC as an on-air promo in the spring. Whether this is achieved by bouncing the show from the Fall to the Spring after a couple of episodes or with more episodes, it's hard for me to imagine it not being on the air this spring.

Say it ain't so, Robert! I saw the teasers for Chuck during the Olympics coverage. NBC is pushing it pretty damn hard (and, intriguingly enough, isn't pushing Knight Rider at all) but I have to be honest -- the teasers looked jumbled and I couldn't understand what the show was about. If TSCC gets canned after 13 eps this season and I'm stuck watching Dollhouse, Knight Rider, and a watered down 24 starring Janeane Garofalo and a neutered Jack Bauer, I'll be devastated.

TVa, as big of a fan of the show that I am, realistically, I think it will be very hard-pressed to get numbers like that even if it executes the first few episodes beautifully. It's going up against DWTS and Big Bang Theory/How I Met Your Mother, and unless I missed a schedule change by NBC, Chuck. The crossover for the CBS/NBC and FOX viewers for that hour are quite high so DVRs will be working overtime. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

Terminator: SCC's fate is not dependent on what it will be pulling for repeats during the Olympics. Not may will care to watch a repeat over a BIG event that is around only once every 4 years.

Terminator should do OK, but a lot will depend on how well those first few episodes are done and the storylines developed. Hopefully, it will have done the right re-tooling needed to get about 8-9 milllion viewers, on average, and pull near a 3 in the demo. If it does, it will get another season.

I don't think Fox promoted the marathon in any meaningful way, so it's possible that viewers simply didn't know the TSCC option was available to them. I think ABC and CBS simply ran their usual Sunday night repertoire opposite the Olympics coverage.

Still, that's gotta hurt. I mean, poor TSCC got freaking crushed. I'm very worried about how next season is going to do.

Mabirdy/TVa (and everyone else), there apparently are some issues with how NBC uses the LIVE tage on the west coast. See this post from James Hibberd for more info: http://www.thrfeed.com/2008/08/nbc-fake-olympi....

Alex, I was a bit bummed about TSCC's performance, but not surprised. I'd rag on FOX for airing it vs. the Olympics at all, but I suppose it feels obligated to air all the reruns prior to the new season in the fall, and I can't fault it for that. I'm sure that the numbers in the fall will be better with the new episodes, and while it will have competition, its competition won't be nearly as dominant as the Olympics.

Mabirdy,

No, the Womens Gymnastics was taped for USA Primtime broadcast. The Announcers said a few times that it was Sunday Afternoon (China Time), or close to 18 hours before the primetime window.

When NBC is live, you will see the LIVE graphic next to the NBC logo in the upper right of the screen.

Do you know whether the woman's gymnastics was live last night? I know the swimming was because of the big "LIVE" in the corner.

It just struck me as odd that something that would interest little girls would be on so late...nine thirty central. We start school this week and I know some of my 8-10 year old students wouldn't want to miss the gymnastics. That is why I was wondering if it was delayed because of the live swimming.

Wopa, uh, no. Relative to itself, all other things being equal, that would indeed have CBS freaking out. But all other things are NOT equal. There's this event running that runs once every four years, it's called the Summer Olympics, perhaps you've heard of it ;-)

CBS will not be thinking OUCH, it will be thinking, a 1.5 in the 18-49 demo and 6 million viewers against *that* competition...nice!

The Olympics are an official ratings beast like the NFL and American Idol.

I hadn't seen a 33 share in some time.

The relay hour during 11pm had to be over 40 million viewers with Phelps dominating the relay race.

These are the best Olympics so far no doubt.

Big Brother still held on strong like Smackdown on Friday.

From what I heard the cable ratings have been pretty strong.

The relay was awesome, TVa! I doubt we will see the 11p-midnight hour (here, or anywhere else) unless NBC specifically calls it out in a press release. They've (NBC) been good about sending whatever they put directly so I don't have to check the press website 20 times an hour -- so whatever ratings data they put out, I will get up on the site as soon as possible.

In viewer numbers, it looks as if FOX was hurt the most.
The CW had its usual Horrible numbers. ABC is about even, but its not usually that strong to begin with, and CBS is mostly even to most recent Summer repeat Sundays.

Will you get numbers for the 11pm - 12pm hour?
I wouldn't be surprised if its close to or above 40 million. That Men's 4x100M relay was just Awsome!

Stephen, no. The only cable ratings we get directly are the top 40 shows based on household rating for the week. We get info for the prior Mon-Sun on Tuesdays and are allowed to post the top 20 shows, which we do every Tuesday.

We often see other information for shows which do not make that list via press release, other websites or the networks themselves letting us know, but none of that happens in a way we can "put it into production". I am myself curious to see how Monk and Psych did on Friday night against the opening ceremonies, but we may see that info in the weekly top 40 if the shows weren't hurt too badly by the competition on USA network's mothership. And I am of course curious to see how Mad Men did last night...
