It is amazing to me that the taped coverage by time zones outdrew the live coverage. I guess NBC knew what they were doing. Perplexing to me.....I am not one of those in the SF area that have been watching the NBC Coverage..

Jonathan, as written elsewhere, even Zucker/NBC expect the ratings to decrease for the second-week. Currently after 9 days its well ahead of the Athens averages, so the slide would have to be fairly large for Beijing to fare worse than Athens, but it could certainly happen.

I'd love to see the 15 minute data for 11:00p-11:15p portion, it probably was higher than the 40 million cited which was for the whole 11:00-11:30 half hour.

The numbers for the Phelps race are lower than I expected, honestly, but the numbers for the rest of the night surprise me. I expected most people to just wait until 11:00 to tune in, but the even viewing is probably good news for NBC overall.

However, it'll be interesting to see if numbers will drop a lot without Phelps now. I mean, numbers usually begin dropping for the Olympics after 10 days or so, but I wonder if it'll permanently be behind Athens now.
