Bill's mind was not blown. My mind was blown a long time ago, so we can't ascribe it to Gossip Girl. Best.Ratings.Ever? So says the CW. Update: we (TVbytheNumbers) are sometimes impaired because while we get a lot of data, we do not get access easily or regularly to the 18-34 female demographic. The CW assures us that that's where its bread gets buttered and we have absolutely no reason to doubt them. And so, record numbers among 18-34 year old females is surely pleasing to the CW.
Apparently a mindblowingly EIGHT sub headlines worth in the press release! Eight! NBC maxed out at like six sub heads for one of it's Olympic releases, but it was also talking about hundreds of millions of viewers, so I'll forgive them. September 2, 2008 (Burbank, CA) - The second season debut of The CW's hitdelivered the series' best ratings EVER in adults 18-34 (2.3/7), women 18-34 (3.2/10), adults 18-49 (1.7/5) and women 18-49 (2.3/6), according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Monday, Sept. 1, 2008. Despite premiering during the Labor Day holiday, GOSSIP GIRL also turned in its second most watched episode ever 3.4mil, slightly behind its series debut on 9/19/07.
The premiere of GOSSIP GIRL out-performed its original average last season by 44% in adults 18-34, 33% in women 18-34, 42% in adults 18-49, 28% in women 18-49 and 35% in total viewers.

Last night's ONE TREE HILL debut either matched or beat the show's best ratings since the 2006-07 season in adults 18-34 (2.3/7), women 18-34 (3.3/9), adults 18-49 (1.6/4) and women 18-49 (2.3/5)
GOSSIP GIRL won the hour in women 18-34, persons 12-34 (2.3/7), females 12-34 (3.5/11), teens (2.3/8), female teens (4.1/13). GOSSIP GIRL beat ABC, CBS and NBC at 8pm in adults 18-34. The premiere of ONE TREE HILL also won the hour in women 18-34 (3.3/9), females 12-34 (3.2/9), teens (1.7/5) and female teens (3.0/9). ONE TREE HILL ranked second in adults 18-34 (2.3/6) and persons 12-34 (2.2/6).
ONE TREE HILL retained 100% of its GOSSIP GIRL lead-in with adults 18-34, and built slightly (3%) in women 18-34.
