Update: Yikes, bad news for Tyra. ANTM average but 3.48 million (way down over last year's premiere which averaged over 5 million viewers) according to the fast nationals. Bones averaged 9.69 million including a 3.3/9 among 18-49 year olds. Bill will have the full night's details up shortly.

The early metered markets show that the two hour season premiere of Fox's Bones was dominant between 8pm-10pm averaging a household rating/share of a 6.6/10. If that holds up it would be almost a 20% increase over last year's season premiere on 9/25/08 which drew a 5.6/9 according to Marc Berman. I looked up the final numbers last year for 9/25 when a one hour version of Bones leading into House drew a 5.2/8. Note: these early metered market numbers quite often change a lot by the time the "fast nationals" that are used to compile the regular overnight reports, let alone the final numbers.

Things were not so rosy for America's Next Top Model, which may be floundering drawing a 3.3/5 in the early metered markets. According to Berman that's down 15% from the 9/19/2007 bow which drew a 3.9/7, but for last year's final numbers I show the 9/19/07 episode (one hour, as opposed to last night's two) with a 3.2/5 household rating share with 5.216 million viewers. So if it retains it's relatively high viewers per household and draws over 5 million, I'm sure the CW will be delighted. According to Berman, two years ago it drew a 4.6/7, so some of the bloom is definitely off the rose.
