JAY TAKES THE 11:30 HOUR OVER 'Late Show' BY 17 PERCENT IN 18-49 VIEWERS AND Conan LEADS 'LATE Late Show' AT 12:35 BY 25 PERCENT 

'TONIGHT' AND 'LATE NIGHT' ARE DOMINANT AMONG YOUNGER ADULTS, AS JAY AND Conan STRETCH THEIR MARGINS TO 34 PERCENT AND 48 PERCENT RESPECTIVELY AMONG ADULTS 18-34 

BURBANK, Calif. – October 3, 2008 – NBC's late-night stars have delivered slot-winning numbers for the week of September 22-26, as "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" took the 11:35 p.m. ET hour over CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" by a 17 percent margin in adult 18-49 viewers and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" prevailed at 12:35 a.m. over CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" by a 25 percent margin. 

Both Jay and Conan stretched their leads among younger adults, with Jay topping "Late Show" for the week by a 34 percent advantage among adults 18-34 and Conan achieving a 48 percent margin over "Late Late Show." 

For the week of September 22-26, Jay's average 1.753 million adults 18-49 topped the 1.498 million of CBS's Letterman; in total viewers, Jay's audience of 4.732 million persons beat Letterman's 3.942 million; and in adults 18-34, Jay's 708,000 out-delivered Letterman's 530,000. At 12:35 a.m. ET, Conan's 984,000 adults 18-49 for the week out-delivered Craig Ferguson's 785,000; in total viewers, Conan's 1.822 million beat Ferguson's 1.797 million; and in adults 18-34, Conan's 457,000 topped Ferguson's 309,000. 

For the week, "Tonight" topped Comedy Central's 11 p.m. ET series "The Daily Show" in adult 18-49 viewers by a 63 percent margin (1.753 million adults 18-49 vs. 1.077 million) and Comedy Central's 11:30 series "The Colbert Report" by 109 percent (1.753 million vs. 840,000). Conan defeated all cable competition in his time period in adult 18-49 viewers. Versus Adult Swim programming in that hour, Conan prevailed by a margin of 61 percent (984,000 vs. 612,000).
