More than 18.1 Million Viewers Watch Debate on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC
New York – October 3 – The networks of NBC drew the most viewers for Thursday night's Vice Presidential debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin. More than 18.1 million viewers tuned in to watch the debate on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC. 12.820 million viewers watched the coverage on NBC, 4.412 million watched on MSNBC, and 917,000 on CNBC.
Compared to VP debates in recent presidential election cycles, last night's coverage was up +12% (+1,370,000) versus the 2004 debate on NBC and was up +201% (+2,943,000) on MSNBC.
Among A25-54, NBC coverage delivered a 5.4 rating. MSNBC delivered 1.865 million viewers in A25-54 and CNBC had 438,000 viewers in A25-54.
Additionally, 285,000 viewers streamed the debate live on msnbc.com. NBC News had its biggest text response ever with 150,000 unique text votes cast.
