From an ABC press release:

Monday's Most-Watched TV Show for the Third Week in a Row, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" Leads its 2-Hour Time Period in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49

"Boston Legal" Outperforms NBC's Special Telecast of "Life" by 3.2 Million Viewers, Posting Week-to-Week Increases in Viewers and Young Adults

Monday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)
For the third time in as many weeks, ABC qualified as Monday's most-watched network, outdelivering second-place CBS by 3.8 million viewers (15.3 million vs. 11.5 million).  ABC also took the No. 1 ranking Monday night across each of the key women demos: Women 18-34 (3.4/9), Women 18-49 (5.1/12) and Women 25-54 (6.3/14).

"Dancing with the Stars" (8:00-10:00 p.m.)
Monday's most-watched program for the third week in a row, ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" dominated in its 2-hour time period, defeating second-place CBS by 8.3 million viewers (18.6 million vs. 10.3 million) and by 8% in Adults 18-49 (4.3/11 vs. 4.0/10).  "DWTS" also qualified as Monday's No. 1 show among Women 18-49 (6.3/15) and Women 25-54 (7.7/17)
*  "Dancing with the Stars" saw its audience grow by 2.5 million viewers (16.9 million to 19.4 million) and by 21% in Adults 18-49 (3.9/11 to 4.7/11) from start to finish.

"Boston Legal" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
For the second straight week, ABC's "Boston Legal" beat NBC's special telecast of "Life" by 3.2 million viewers (8.8 million vs. 5.6 million).
* "Boston Legal" was up over the prior week in both Total Viewers (8.8 million vs. 8.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.2/6 vs. 2.0/6).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 28% currently, from 20% at the same point in 2007. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
