Pushing Daisies is by far one of the best shows in Television right now. This show is not for KIDS or TEENS… so let’s take them out of the equation. This show must continue even if on a cable network or something… It was meant to be “cheesy”… it was meant to be “fake” because of the fact that you are watching a TV SHOW and not a REALITY TYPE DRAMA. Pushing Daisies is a break from all of the nonsense shows out there right now. Pushing Daisies brings original programming and content week after week after week… and I really like the lead girl.. she’s hot! Let’s keep the Pie Maker’s show on please!!!!!

I adore Pushing Daisies!!! It is the most original & fun show I’ve seen in years!
One of the few shows I never miss! I was upset when the season got cut short. That’s
probably part of the problem- no repeats, it hasn’t been on the air for like 10
months. The audience needs time to warm up to it, again.

Wednesday belong to CBS with its killer lineup of Criminal Minds and CSI:NY. Both
shows are averaging so far this season a 15.99millions viewers and 4.3 demo for Criminal Minds and for CSI:NY 15.11millions viewers and 4.0 demo. I doubt that T:SSC with its 5.7millions viewers and 2.2 demo or Lost with its last season average of 12.70millions viewers and 5.3 demo, will be able to beat CM and CSI:NY.

Yes I do realize that last year demo numbers for Lost were better than this year demo numbers for CM and CSI:NY but Lost started the season at an amazing 6.7 and finished with a 4.9, that is a big drop. So who knows what it will do next year.

Granted, Lost would do much better against either CM or CSI:NY than Private Pratice and Dirty Sexy Money.

“Knight Rider” is a GREAT show, and a worthy sequel to the 80′s original! I hope that as more people catch on to the show, its ratings only increase. A great success for NBC, it gets better every week.

Paula, remeber Grey’s was given that timeslot in its first season and thats where it built its audience. Personally I think both shows are rubbish, but for ABC’s sake they really need to try something else as Wednesdays are failing for them.

As for moving Brothers and Sisters, it has developed a strong audience and it should be able to stand on its own two feet now, why not try it out in another less competitive timeslot?

I just want to say to Rich from Aussie land, why why WHY would ABC cater to Private Practice and move it to Sunday nights when it’s line up is so strong on that night? I watch ABC on Sundays for DH and Brothers & Sisters and the ratings are pretty strong for both. Why would they move Practice when B&S has settled nicely there? Why should Rhimes less than quality show be pushed into a time when the shows currently there have earned it’s time there? I sincerely hope ABC does not do that as Practice hasn’t earned that time spot at all. If it was a quality show, it would do just fine where it is. It struggles because fans aren’t really interested. It would be a really bad idea for ABC to move anything it’s got on Sunday nights as Sundays are WORKING for them now.

In my opinion it’s a shame that ABC will back a show like Private Practice and it’s mediocre ratings and stories because of Shonda Rhimes while a show like Pushing Daisies which had 13 Emmy nominations and is a critical favorite will be on the chopping block. Another show ABC has Eli Stone, had a tough time last year and has had very little promotional backing for it’s Tuesday release will most likely struggle as well, while less than creative programming will last and get backed. Every week I see ad after ad for Private Practice and I cringed while watching it this week. I just can’t figure out why a network who gets great respect for shows like Daisies may abandon it and push other shows that don’t really produce considering all the advertising put into them to promote them on fans and critics who aren’t responding. I’m wishing luck for Pushing Daisies as it’s truly one of the most creative and well done shows on television right now as far as I’m concerned.

ABC’s Wednesdays are in dire straits, they should have tried something different this fall. Heres a possible solution.

Sundays: 9pm Housewives followed by Private Practice
Mondays: Dancing With the Stars then Dirty Sexy Money. Give DSM the lead in as Boston Legal is in its final season.
Tuesday: Same
Wednesdays: Pushing Daisies followed by Brothers and Sisters then Boston Legal.
Thursdays: Same

Private Practice is just living on Grey Anatomy’s name. That show is BLAH. It won’t be cancelled, which is a shame.

DSM is nothing special.

Pushing Daisies is a GREAT show, too off-beat and whimsical and “cutesy” for the general audience. Im surprised it lasted as long as it did. It should be on a cable network, it’s not catered for the mainstream audience.

Also to the guy who said PD became “sappy”: I have to disagree. It was never grim or morbid or dark. It has always been a big-hearted show. I can see how the act gets old for some, but for some like me, it’s a gem, which obviously means it will be cancelled.

I doubt life on mars will work out, american television has a strong tendency to muck up impressive english programs, remember Coupling, and men behaving badly. But they do have a prominent actor in it, if they could get some cool guest stars for that show it should work out.

If fox wants to save TSCC they need to work on making it a better tv show. I really liked the first season. This season is just so so, at best. I do hope it gets better. And fox is gonna have to move bones once American Idol starts up again.

As for the rest of wednesday night, aside from criminal minds, who cares? Pushing daisies was ok for a few episodes last season, but it got old quick. And knight rider? 2 questions: Who writes that show? And are they 12?

Knight Rider is just too stupid to watch I can understand some people having rough times right now and want an escape but I can’t watch a show with such awful writing it doesn’t make much sense at all and I agree with some on here that it’s a real shame that Pushing Daisies is losing to Knight Rider in the ratings that is messed up

NOW HERE’S A Perfect example – FOX needs to move Til Death out of the picture and put “Sarah…Chronicles” after BONES – I think it will work for SARAH…but again it’s the wrong people in the wrong positions at most of these networks…

….and they don’t want to admit it would work – I bet if you put 3 episodes (for 3 weeks) after BONES – the repeats would fair equal or better and any NEW episodes of SARAH would dominate!

Rado, nothing that has been announced as a mid-season shift prior to the season starting is set in stone. It can all be changed. That’s one reason we write very little about mid-season until we’re much later in the year, its too much of a moving target at this point.

Ike is correct about why many NBC shows with low viewership keep getting renewed.

For example, 30 Rock has reportedly some of the best income demographics of any TV show. Sadly, we don’t see any income demographics data first hand, so I can only say “reportedly”.

No, I don’t believe this is much of a factor. The main factor is demographics. NBC has mainly been targeting the lucrative Adults 18-34 and Men 18-49 demos. Chuck’s ratings last season weren’t so hot in 18-49s but last season it did well with young males, an extremely elusive audience. Some advertisers will pay extra to reach them. (Unfortunately now that show is falling further.) Most of NBC’s remaining sitcoms are (or WERE) also good examples. Their total viewer numbers are mostly horrible, but they’ve done well in A18-34s until recently. NBC kept “Scrubs” around because (for a while) it was an A18-34 powerhouse, believe it or not.

Also, NBC simply doesn’t have anything better to replace all its failures.

Foo Man Chu: “[PD is] just too different for most viewers.”

That’s not the problem, IMO. The problem is that it didn’t stay dark and edgy enough. It’s getting more maudlin and sappy. It’s not morbid or grim enough any more. It’s too heartwarming. And the dialogue isn’t as clever. Plus, it’s getting repetitive.

A little of it went a long way. The writers didn’t change things up enough from one ep. to the next.

Cam, Law & Order:SVU is on Tuesday, Law & Order starts mid-season, Law & Order Criminal Intent went to USA.

Sam, it’s 100 episodes for syndication. Christine is a long way from that. The show’s results are definitely in the “do not renew” category to me, but I agree that reasonable people can assume CBS may act differently.

Tyler, any decision on PD will come long before awards season. I agree it would be unusual for ABC to clear out its entire Wednesday line up. Private Practice is down, but I don’t see it in any danger at this point. Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money, on the other hand, either pick up audience or they’re goners by the end of the season.

As for ABC. On the Pushing Daisies thing, I think if the show delivers anywhere from 5.5 to 6 Million Viewers, keeps getting critical acclaim, and if it has a successful award season next summer than I think ABC will keep it around. That would sort of be like 30 Rock. As for Private Practice as long as it delivers at least like 7 or 8 Million I think ABC might keep it around because I think the networks have a lot invested in Shonda Rhimes and she could go elsewhere so they don’t want to make her madd. Dirty Sexy Money will probably get the axe around midseason. Also, like I said ABC has a lot invested in Shonda Rhimes, if Life on Mars does not do so well, which I have my doubts, than ABC should put Private Practice on Thursdays at 10:00pm. Im sure their it would get like 11 or 12 Million Viewers.

CBS has a killer lineup in more ways than one. Look at any top 20 tv list over the last few years and you’ll see CSI, CSI Miami, CSI NY, NCIS, Criminal Minds, Without A Trace, Cold Case, and on and on we could go. They may not be the quality shows but they are the shows that America chooses to watch and have been watching for years now. ABC has great nine o’clock shows across the board but they struggle to find the complimentary shows to close out the night. Despite their troubles, they’re basically two hit shows away from taking the overall viewer title from CBS. If Life On Mars turns into the hit that tv critics are predicting, it could become a game changer. They still have bonafied hits returning within the next few weeks and months; Samantha Who?, The Bachelor, and L O S T. Unfortunately, it’s looking more and more likely that the abstract gem, Pushing Daises, may only find its way to a second and final season. That show is so well written, you just watch and listen in amazement as the stories unfold each week. The other networks are non-factors at least until American Idol returns and even AI is starting to look vulnerable as they made so many gaffes that they drove millions of fans away by the time the season had reached its midpoint. It will be interesting to see how strong it comes back.

I enjoy watching Knight Rider for the same reason that was mentioned above it is mindless fun. I do not care for any of the shows on ABC on Wednesdays. I REALLY do not care for DSM. Who wants to see a bunch of rich people and their stupid problems. The country is hurting right now. People are losing their homes. Why do you think CBS and FOX are doing so well on this night. Those shows deal with crime and real issues that could happen to anyone.

Yeah– ABC definitely needs to put PP back after Greys (what’s on after Grey’s now?) PP is floundering by itself. As for Lipstick Jungle, I have no idea what can be done. Too bad too, because this season is actually better (quality-wise) than last. Since Cashmere Mafia failed, couldn’t ABC pick it up? It would fit nicely in their line-up.

I’m really happy to see Old Christine be the second best of it’s timeslot! The ratings have been increasing every week. If it can hold a steady 7.5, I think CBS will be happy. They just want this new comedy block to work.

I disagree with the comment that Gary has a better chance of survival. CBS knows Old Christine can perform excellently behind 2.5 Men and is starting to prove it can stand modestly on its own. They also know that critics like it and the Emmy voters do too. I think Gary might make it to a season 2. I definitely don’t think they will chose Gary over Old Christine.

Too bad for Til Death. It seems like FOX is so happy with the low production costs they don’t care about the ratings.

IIRC, there won’t be anymore new episodes of Bones in October. So, if those other networks hold off on canceling anything, perhaps there might be a glimmer of hope for Pushing Daisies.

I used to like Bones, but after the whole Gormagon garbage, I can’t stand it. Plus, the lead character Bones is turning into a stuck up, insensitive snot.

Dave, that would only work if Brothers & Sisters could really work without its own lead in. It’s completely untested and could just fall apart, and ABC would be left with one less successful show, plus a hole to fill on Sunday, which may not be so easy to fill.

ABC needs more hit shows so they can use them as lead ins. After Greys Anatomy is the only good slot for a new ABC show right now. I think they should move brothers and sisters on to wednesdays at 9. then u can put a new show at 10, and that show will have a decant lead in. Then sundays at 10 is where another new show can be developed, considering their lead in would be desperate houswives.
