Variety is reporting that NBC has ordered 4 more scripts for Knight Rider.

We'd heard it performed well with young men, and Variety repeats that.

It hasn't ranked terribly well in our Renew/Cancel Index, but it is currently in better shape than NBC's Life and Lipstick Jungle.

  1. “we heard”? Please! Week in, week out, it has won with men 18-34 and 18-49 beating even Bones in those demos. We *see* that data. Whether you choose to look at it and whether that data is actually meaningful or not is another story. after all, if men 18-34 were truly as elusive as the spinmeisters paint, you’d think it would have already gotten a full season!

  2. Eh…

Why would a obviously unoriginal talking car be watched more than a great show like Life? Or maybe even Heroes? All those ratings are just so… weird. I’d rather like to hear Life would get some more episodes!

Perhaps you could also report that Terminator received an order for two additional scripts too. It’s no guarantee for anything, but it at least shows that Fox is still considering the renewal of the show. link to announcement

  5. Outlander

This is just further proof that Terminator needs to be on Wednesday night. There is NO COMPARISON in the quality of the two shows. The Knight Rider thing is trying to channel baywatch with all the women in bikinis on the beach and so forth– but dude, without The Hoff, it just doesn’t work for me.

The new Knight Rider is horrible, it reminds me of a series version of Fast and the Furious. KITT is/was and will always be a black Trans Am. The new KITT is fugly and cheap looking. Also William Daniels will always be the voice. Val Kilmer? Oh kill me already!!! Val sucked as Batman and hes even worse now. And lastly Michael Knight will always be that cheeseburger on the floor eating drunk dude known as THE HOFF. Its like the Bionic Woman only worse!

  7. Tony

    cool man!

  8. Shut up. Knight rider is verygood tv-series. Such as Chuck, Smallville, Supernatural, One Tree Hill or NCIS. Maybe even batter than Life and cartainly than Lipstick Jungle. And KITT looks awesome. If you don’t like the show, then don’t watch it. Because a don’t like Life and i am not saying, that this is horrible show either. But let be honest, Life sucks. I saw couple of episodes and they were boring, i was lookinf forward to the end of it. Thx. Sorry for my English, I’ve never been in UK or US.

  9. Hee. You’re super cute, Wenth.

wench, shut up, the new Knight Rider sucks, the ratings confirm this. Weze dont need no Czech commie telling us otherwise. Its terrible, if prisoners were forced to watch such a bad show Amnesty International would protest! Time to get it off the air. End it now! No more episodes! Bring back THE HOFF, the real KITT and the real car. THE HOFF rocks! Even if he does prefer to eat cheeseburgers off the floor.

Whats next? AIRWOLF as a hospital helicopter starring Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul and Val Kilmer as Archangel? Really people. Its time to put a stop to these lame imitations.

I think Variety is getting ahead of themselves. NBC ordered scripts written, they didn’t okay production. It’s the same thing with Terminator. FOX ordered two more scripts written, but they have not approved production on them or the back nine.

Then again maybe NBC wants it to leak out as if the episodes were ordered in an effort to gage the fan reaction.

  13. Frank, I think you read this wrong. No one is claiming that more episodes have been ordered to be produced. Just scripts.

  14. FrankJ

Julia, I was making a point about the headline. Articles about Terminator were very specific that only scripts were ordered.

  15. FrankJ, While I was just copying the original Variety headline, I can see how it might be misleading. In your honor, I have added “scripts” to our headline. ;)
