[...] Whether it be MSNBC or CNN, both trail badly in prime time ratings behind the Fox News as Fox boasts having the top 6 prime time cable news shows. How impressive is Fox News in the ratings? Look at where Glen Beck has risen to after having been on Fox for such a short period of time as compared to his previous CNN HLN ratings.
Chris, tvnewser.com has 5pm cable news ratings, you can check Glen's ratings there.

They overlap with us on many of the ratings items, but we each have some unique items.

As for why CNN bothers with HN, if you figure their news operation isn't much bigger than it would be with just one channel, yet they get to sell advertising on two channels, it makes sense to me.

Glenn Beck moving to Fox News should be interesting. Too bad we don't see numbers for 5pm, but he's likely to get more ratings just by the nature of the channel he will be on. Going back to Tuesday's numbers, he got about 1.2 million viewers and FNCs total day average was 1.5.
The curious part for me will be to see what Headline News runs in his place. Part of me hopes it will be a legit news show, but my gut tells me its gonna be another one-man (maybe a one-women, Beck's rebroadcast (which gets more viewers than the first) goes against Maddow) opinion hour. Sad, isn't it?
I don't know why CNN bothers with Headline news. they don't even try to do anything for the debate. NBC News splits it's team up across two channels (Remember, in the primary's, it was combined on MSNBC) I guess its making them money...and that can be all that matters
