It’s interesting that someone at NBC thought of putting soapy Lipstick Jungle on Friday nights. Remember Dallas used to pull in huge numbers for CBS on that night. The difference? Dallas was a great series with a stellar cast. Lipstick Jungle is dire and with the exception of Brooke Shields and Mary Tyler Moore the cast is crap. Just how did the dreadful Julian Sands get cast in this and as for Brooke’s screen husband he is actually worse than Julian Sands if that is possible! Whoever cast this is in the wrong job.

Good for NCIS….I just got back into town or I would have posted on Saturday….I hope they leave the repeats of NCIS on Fridays. I don’t get to watch it on Tuesdays. And so no one is disappointed, I am a ML fan, LOL.

No way do they move new episodes of NCIS to Friday. It wouldn’t be able to pull the sort of numbers it does on Fridays. But if it can keep these numbers, I say CBS should just continue to repeat it, since there’s nothing else they can seem to put here that will deliver like this.

NBC was heavily advertising the new “crime,” lineup on Wednesday through out the Notre Dame game. Who knows if that will help.

I don’t think the numbers for Lipstick Jungle are representative of what the show will pull in normally. Two things to think about:

1. LJ already had an episode on Wednesday (its regular time slot) so I expect most viewers weren’t expecting or looking for another LJ episode this week.

2. It was Halloween! Their entire viewer pool was out partying while the old fuddy duddies were enjoying NCIS.

I hope Life does well on Wednesdays and I think it deserves that timeslot more. However, LJ should do better next week on Friday. Though probably not well– most young women are out at the club Friday night, not watching tv.

Which would make some sense, I just feel that Numbers is too good for the Friday night lineup. And just for the record, did not watch NCIS repeat, have not watched any CIS or Bruckheimmer drama in its entirety for years now.

Swingtown is mentioned as a first season for a reason.

Alde, you must have missed it because Bravo already had the marathon of all 13 episodes on Oct. 24th from 12PM – 1AM.

I think CBS can now officially call itself the Crime Broadcasting Station. Sort of a new version of Court TV. Tassler seems set on burning more out-of-the-box programming for either mid-season or next Fall. If there are any smart producers out there who love their concept and it’s not a cop show, they should not under any circumstance give it CBS. The only way they can toy with programming that is DIFFERENT is to place it during the Summer not during the Fall or mid-season. The problem with The Ex List is that it had nothing similar to go with. CBS should never have had this especially in the Fall schedule. Escapism is best during the Summer.

While I’m really sad for saying this, as it was easily my favorite show over the summer, Swingtown won’t be renewed, it won’t return as repeats either. The showing rights were, by some logic I can’t comprehend, sold to Bravo which is going to show Season 1 either during winter or next year, or something. And no, Bravo has no intention ordering new seasons…

Based on how CBS viewers showed up for a REPEAT of NCIS on Friday and dumped on The Ex-List and Swingtown previously, I’m absolutely convinced now what a monumental error Nina Tassler made by going after Swingtown. CBS viewers obviously have no interest in these types of shows. They want suspense, they want guns, they want car chases, they want lots of techno gobbledegook, and they want it intravenously, if possible. I would have preferred if she had left Swingtown alone, or let it go to a cable network than to feed it to the wolves the way she did. What the ‘H’ did she expect?
It’s not that CBS viewers didn’t like Swingtown. They just didn’t get it. There was no crime, no guns, no techno-babble, no car chases, no laugh tracks. I’m sure 90 percent started watching an episode and said, what the ‘H’ is this? Where’s special agent blanketiblank? Where’s the dramatic gun battle followed by the eerie silence of a crime scene, punctuated by a bunch of actors running around with chemistry sets trying to look like they know what they’re doing?
So, I guess it is over for Swingtown, because there is just no home or hope for it on CBS, end of story. They can try to bring it back. CBS’s viewers just won’t watch it, and then it will be gone after four episodes.
The only hope is that they try to sneak it in under the radar as a returning summer show. Not holding my breath.

CBS: good for you, you guys are dominating! NCIS… JUST WOW! Everything seems to be falling into place for you, especailly with your new shows!

ABC: Struggling with your sophmore shows, but still in a distant 2nd place in the ratings. Lost cant come soon enough for you guys. Wednesdays need to be completly re-programmed, Life on Mars should not be after Greys!

NBC: ahhh, well…. It seems like you guys dont care, so i dont really know what to say. the renewal of kath and kim, was the punchline for me that you guys dont care about winning in the ratings. But… I would get deal or no deal off fridays, and i have no clue why lipstick jungle is still airing, but ok.

FOX: It seems like its hit or miss with you. U guys definitly play the winter lineup game better. American Idol and 24 should help you compete with ABC and CBS. Dollhouse can be a success, pending where you guys put it. I believe alot of shows need to be moved around in the lineup, AND…. Terminator: NOT WORTH IT!

CW: Ok you guys are the bottom feeders. You guys dont know how to do anything, but you have some decant shows. Smallville and Supernatural need to be advertised more! I honestly beleieve if you guys advertised smallville more, it could hit 4.5-5 million viewers every week! who cares what gender they are! Stop promoting Gossip Girl so much. You have put out so much money into one show and its only getting 3 million veiwers.

I felt like someone needs to tell NBC how it is and not how it is in their little fantasy world. Picking up a mediocre show and the weak link of the entire night tells me they are throwing in the towel, which angers me. I calls em as I sees em, and sometimes it comes out in rant format. Sorry if it seemed a little harsh, but it still felt gooood.

I remember when CSI repeats were drawing close to 10 million viewers on Saturdays a few years back. NCIS has turned into one of those total viewer powerhouses where it can do 10+ mil even in repeats on a Friday. Does anybody know if CBS ordered 2 editions of The Amazing Race or just the one again? Trying to guess if they are going to put Flashpoint in that 9PM slot in a month or two or if they might be thinking of it on Sunday.

andres, NBC’s viewership is down 14.3% on average this season, down 14.7% among 18-49′s. ABC and Fox are in similar situations. CBS is down less than 5%.

Because of that it’s very hard to compare past seasons results and say “What might have been if…”

Seeing this NBC´s numbers for friday I start to wonder how well would do Las Vegas if was still on, since the final season averaged 7,3m viewers. NBC is downhill on fridays from now to may.

Nope, ordering more of Kath and Kim is a dumb move. Why? NBC just committed itself to finishing a distant third whenever 30 Rock drops. Apparently, they’re ok with finishing third, which just goes to show how pathetic it does in the ratings. It NEVER wins a night in viewers and rarely the demo with its own programming (yes, that excludes the NFL). It NEVER will until they stop cuddling the shows they like that are not even half as popular as they seem to think they are and try something until it works. Oh and let’s not mentioned that they killed Crusoe before it even aired by sticking it behind Deal or No Deal on Fridays. Whatever moron thought it would pull in good ratings there with the entire two promotions they showed for it deserves to be hit with something hard.

Just so Outlander is clear, WGN the Chicago CW affiliate and “WGN America” differ substantially. WGN America airs WGN’s newscasts (except for the morning news due to restrictions on some of the syndicated features they show), Cubs and White Sox baseball and some of their syndicated shows, but substitutes classic TV shows and old movies for the CW lineup and the rest of their syndicated shows).

A rerun of NCIS is almost at the CBS top 20 average; cool. CBS seems to be averaging around 9-11 million avery day (apart from Sat); NBC would kill for those ratings. Lipstick Jungle steals CW numbers? Lipstick Jungle did pretty bad didn’t it?

I know too many rational humans who like Crusoe for its entertaining freshness. And I agree with them – to a point. I mean, I can watch this with my nephew with no danger of embarrassment, and that’s a very rare thing these days. I don’t see why NBC aren’t advertising its strengths. Though, NCIS clearly was a shrewd move from CBS, stealing viewers from what had been the #1 9PM show (Crusoe!!).

Outlander, WGN is a local Chicago station that is broadcast nationally. TBS is another example of a local station that is broadcast nationally. TBS is an Atlanta station.

Alex, the CW doesn’t program nationally on Saturdays and that show is “all over the place”, and people will need to look up where it’s on locally. I can watch it on either the chicago superstation (WGN) or a local independent station that is not a CW affiliate (KICU in San Francisco).
