Low viewing night being a Friday. Olbermann and Maddow eek out a slim edge in the 25-54 demo for the live show on a night O’Reilly and Hannity were off.
That explains a lot!
hahaha Olbermann and Maddow are back after just a 2 day pause to again reclaim the crown of King and Queen of ratings!!! hehehe
Even the geezers seem to be turning out Bill O the Clown and Hannity the monkey!!! Total views in case drop by 50% while Olbermann and Maddow continue to hold pre election audience.
Keith Olbermann keeps on truckin’
It appears that the only time Maddow or Olbermann can squeak out a demographic win is on the occasions when their competition is on vacation.
It is worth noting also though…that this number
8PM – P2+ (25-54) (35-64)
The O’Reilly Factor—3,063,000 viewers (724,000) (1,329,000)
Countdown w/Keith Olbermann– 2,239,000 viewers (769,000) (1,178,000)
…that is the 724,000 for Laura Ingram against the 769,000 for Olbermann is impressive.
Just knowing that Laura Ingram used to date Keith Olbermann causes me to have some concentration issues when I watch her though…circuitry board starts to fry….
Many have said for months now that once Obama wins that there will be a plummet in the viewers for FOX. I have not seen this ring true yet. And overall FOX beats in the key demographic during the day and the night consistently.
25-54 Total Day
FNC –373,000 viewers
MSNBC –294,000 viewers
25-54 Prime Time
FNC –587,000 viewers
MSNBC –583,000 viewers
Lastly….for all of you fellow fans of Governor Palin…she will be on Greta tonight and I am predicting that Greta’s numbers will be astronomical.
A friend told me that a while back Obama was on O’Reilly and that he was also on Olbermann at the same time. I heard that O’Reilly won the ratings that night even though Obama was also on Olbermann. I have also heard that it was Olbermann that won the ratings that night.
I was not able to see any of that…
Does anyone remember if there was such a head to head match up and who actually won?
thanks
It’s a case study in ignoring the facts. I stated straight up that O’Reilly and Hannity WERE NOT ON THE AIR on Friday. Laura Ingraham filled in for O’Reailly and some stiff sat in with Colmes. I think Roger Moore appeared as a guest as well. So it is by no means a usual night. Olbermann and Maddow did their usual pimpin for Obama, and barely get a demo win, but only in the live hour.
Only in some fantasy world is that cause for some of the O’Reilly haters and Olbermanniacs to crawl out from under their rock after a week and declare some shallow victory.
So Olbermann barely beat Laura Ingraham on a Friday night. Yeah, that proves a lot.
Papabear…do you have any actual numbers to base this statement on:
“Total views in case drop by 50%”
I am presuming you are saying that FOX’s audience has dropped by 50%….?
Prove it!
Here’s the info about the Obama head-to-head interviews:
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/09/09/cable-news-ratings-for-monday-september-8/5004
O’Reilly went to Pennsylvania and recorded a sit-down interview, which he aired part of on Thursday, Sept. 4, and then spread the rest out over a few nights starting Sept. 8.
Olbermann had his infamous “Will you sing my yearbook” worship-fest live-via-satellite also on Sept. 8.
Thanks America 47000…that was nice of you. I looked and could not find it. O’Reilly annihilated Olbermann. I missed the “yearbook” remark. I would have put money that Olbermann would have given O’Reilly a good run for his money that night.
If you are wondering why I am asking…it is because I think an element of this is going to bleed over into the ratings as they play out during the Obama presidency. I wonder if O’Reilly’s astronomical numbers were from one time viewers or liberal leaning viewers who bailed on Olbermann. I read in a blog a while back that Olbermann won hands down that night…they were not accurate.
“In a bit of mano a mano, Part 2 of O’Reilly’s interview with Obama dominated Part 1 of Olbermann’s interview with Obama last night. Outside of our usual O’Reilly vs. Olbermann charts I don’t typically call this rivalry out, but it was an impressive head to head win by O’Reilly each interviewing Senator Obama.”
8:00pm ET
O’Reilly/Obama (Part 2 of series)
P2+ – 4,572,000
Demo – 1,143,000
Olbermann/Obama (Part 1 of series)
P2+ – 1,928,000
Demo – 607,000
Cattleman just check the rating pre and post election. Man rethugs are dumb!
That said you will notice that post election Olbermann’s total viewers have actually grown even when compared to date of Obama’s interview! Sign that MSNBC continues its amazing growth while Faux loses 50% of its viewers even though it might be geezers … are they dying so fast or just turning off O’Reilly! LOL

Which rating PapaBear?
What numbers, what demo, what time slot?
Post the rating you are talking about.
Show me the before and after # you are basing your 50% viewership drop in FOX on.
Okay I’m dumb man…show me the numbers.
Show me how smart you are.
You put the 50% number on the board.
You obviously did the math…
Show me the numbers…
Just cut and paste…
Papabear… I got a feeling you are probably working in the Fact-check dept at MSNBC.
They just make up numbers to.
Papa Bear I went back and looked at the numbers from the link you merely copied from America47000….someone who (unlike you)actually did some research and could legitimately back up something he said.
If you are going to comment on a site specifically dedicated to ratings…which unfortunately involve numbers…then you could perhaps rant and rave and call people dumb and do all of that Olbermann stuff you emulate…but lay off the numbers…
“Total views in case drop by 50% while Olbermann and Maddow continue to hold pre election audience”
This is just an ignorant statement that you can’t back up. It is just a blah..blah…
I guess by “Total views” you mean “Total Day”
Well here are the numbers from this URL that you used to back up your 50% drop in FOX viewership.
Live + Same Day Cable News Daily Ratings for September 8 2008 (Pre-Election)
25-54 Total Day
FNC – 367,000 viewers
Live + Same Day Cable News Daily Ratings for November 7, 2008 (Post-Election)
25-54 Total Day
FNC –373,000 viewers
Yeah…..that’s a 50% drop if I have ever seen one…even a dumb rethug like me can see what you mean papabear
Dumb Rethugs cant even find data so easily available on a ratings website! LOL
A few totally random examples
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/09/19/cable-news-ratings-for-september-18/5224#more-5224
That is falling from a cliff for Mr. Clown and the Monkey.
A little over a month ago:
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/09/26/cable-news-ratings-for-thursday-september-25/5343#more-5343
Here you go a month ago
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/10/10/cable-news-ratings-for-thursday-october-9/6044#more-6044
Bill O the Clown’s rating down 25% since then, Hannity the monkey sees a bigger drop and Olbermann’s is up 25% with Maddow getting a 10-15% push too! Just even today’s ratings or yesterdays or check any days after election!!!!
Now just 2 weeks ago:
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/10/21/cable-news-ratings-for-october-20/6587#more-6587
Just scroll all the way to August and see the steady decline in the Clown and Monkey’s viewers
and the non stop ascent in Olbermann’s and Maddow’s continuing even after elections!!!!!
Cant paste more than 1 link here cuz of this website’s spam filters. But check O’Reilly and Hannity’s ratings starting August and see a steady decline continuing till today.
While Olbermann’s ratings have moved up non stop.
I have a new slogan for this website … “Ratings … the statistics which even the Rethugs can read, if only they scroll back!!”
Fox is still way far out ahead in overall ratings, but MSNBC is doing a VERY good job claiming the 24-54 viewers.
Hey PapaBeargotFlunked….well you had two more postings and no more links “cuz.”
The last one you posted proved the exact opposite of what you stated was a fact.
So I am still waiting for you to back up your posting…
But you can’t do it cause you just made them up.
How about this for a new name for this site:
“Ratings…a place where Liberals… ignore ratings…make up their own numbers and call them statistics”
