As one who has missed a lot of shows because of having choir practice on Wednesday nights (the only time I ever saw an episode of “Lost” was when we had the week off), I can vouch for what Shawn said. But don’t be so sure that Christians aren’t interested in stories about magic or fantasy or whatever. Tolkien was a Roman Catholic, for goodness’ sake! (And if we waited for shows with no gay people involved, we’d be waiting a very long time!)

Maybe it’s because I just watched Jesus Camp last night, but I also doubt that mid-week church goers are the type who would be interested in a show that has some sort of witchcraft involved, plus its creator is a gay man.

More to the point, it wouldn’t explain PD’s rating problems. PD has lost over half its viewers, and I seriously doubt it’s because all those people started attending Wednesday services since the premiere.

Julia, Many Protestant and Evangelical denominations hold mid-week services on Wednesdays. I doubt it has much of an effect (if any) on the ratings for Pushing Daisies though.

Curious if anyone has considered that a target audience for Pushing Daisies would likely be wholesome family types and many of them have church on Wednesday night. Even PTA mom’s know not to plan activities on Wednesdays. Seems like Tuesdays, pre-Eli would be a much better plan to grab that demo.

Shannon, I believe there was a discuss on this site a while back about just how much it costs to dress a set as the 70s week in and week out. While I agree it looks like Life On Mars should be kept rather than Eli Stone, maybe Eli Stone was able to cut costs enough to make it worth keeping it, while Life On Mars could not.

It’s bizarre to me that ABC would keep Eli Stone and cancel Life on Mars. Life on Mars numbers have consistently been up the past weeks (except for last week, but you have to consider that no one in the Boston region watched the show due to the football game) while Eli Stone’s numbers have been down.

David, while I won’t argue whether Eli Stone is canceled or not, what part of this chart leads you to believe that Eli Stone’s demo numbers are ok, and better than DSM or PD. It’s got about 30,000 more demo viewers than PD and 30,000 less than DSM.

I have been saying it for awhile, Eli Stone will be fine, the demo numbers are OK. However PD and DSM are dead, that’s very clear, more so PD.

Life on Mars being canceled would be a surprise.

I wish that the network twits would just leave a show on long enough for it to get a following. it seems like the show is just starting to grow on you before they yank it from the line up. How long does it take to break in a new pair of jeans until they become your favourites? 3 episodes and the show is gone. If anything should go it’s the shows like deal or no deal… how hard of a game show is that… pick a case, pick a case, pick a case. to me tv was always a way to escape for an hour or thirty minutes from your own life and live vicariously through one on the tv. I realize that it takes time and money to make these shows but just give them sometime. I can’t speak to the show MOWE but as for LSJ, I thought it was great. I really do hope that Eli Stone and Carusoe stay, I watch them with my son and it is something that we enjoy to together and there isn’t a whole lot of shows that do that!

I agree Nick. It seems that Life is being kept around because NBC likes the show. Obviously, I’m in disagreement and so is this chart. I’m trying to figure out what makes Life so special. I haven’t been drawn to watch it. Then again, I wasn’t drawn to My Own Worst Enemy by the promos, so it could be a great show for all I know.

Vader, LIFE is a head scratcher. I can’t see anything that makes me go “hmmm, maybe we should keep this show!” KR on the other hand was doing really well (for NBC) when they bought a full season order. The last two weeks have been so bad though that they do look stupid for it.

I’ve watched LIFE and I liked what I saw. The only thing LIFE may have going for it is some obscure demo that NBC wants. That has to be the reason, because I can’t see one.

Oh come on Julia! If that were true, two thirds of NBC Wednesdays would be gone. I guess I can point out those shows never hit a 3.6 either. I love how My Own Worst Enemy gets hammered because its first episode did well. So if all the episodes did poorly and didn’t lose any audience, it wouldn’tve gotten cancelled? I seem to be the only person coming to this blog that thinks full season orders for Knight Rider and Life are absolute jokes. If you are pointing out the demo in one place, point it out elsewhere please.

Robert, it’s my understanding that only WED & THU lineups are complete. ABC keeps updating the schedule there. We still have yet to find out when CASTLE, CUPID and others air. Today was the first time I saw THE GOODE FAMILY and THE UNUSUALS on the schedule so I posted it. The Tuesday lineup hasn’t changed for awhile on there.

The talent behind PD are all being shopped around as we speak. The idea of a “Fall Season,” for PD is extremely unlikely. Then again it is ABC. They do stupid almost as well as NBC. Without Gray’s and DWTS I think ABC would be getting made fun of almost as much as NBC is.

I personally feel that Chuck is going to end up being safe for a third season. Chuck is going to be a part of NBC’ big push during the Super Bowl and i doing a 3-D episode that will be advertised during the Super Bowl so will possibly end up getting a significant bump than.

So I have a quick question, because Chuck is so close to being in the green (0.02 index points away) could it be possible that it will be renewed for another season? After all, it does go head to head with Dancing With The Stars. I always thought it’d be booted to Fridays or preferably be moved to USA Network where it has a better fit along side shows like Psych, Burn Notice and Monk before it gets canned.

My idea was always for me a best case scenario. With the show being canceled because i’m not into miracles and what not i’ll just wait for the dvd though at least it seem like a few more episodes will air since the press release for the dec 10 episode is out. But does anyone else find it weird how they would pair Scrubs with LOST and possibly 2 episodes a week of scrubs which means it would only be 9 weeks since ABC only has 18 episodes.

I’m one of those people who watched Firefly on DVD and said “What was all the fuss about?” But then, I watched almost all of Buffy just to figure out what the fuss was and didn’t get it. Whedon is somewhat entertaining, but nothing amazing in my view. Different strokes.

Rob, I think what you should be hoping for at this point is that maybe ABC would air the unaired episodes of PD on ABC Family. Otherwise it’ll probably be a year or so until you get to see them on DVD.

but i’m not saying it would have better numbers but the idea that some percentage of fans who want to see closure for a show is an intriguing idea. I do mention the idea of it being a series on the network or anything but ABC Family has a history of airing weekend events like “Fallen” (which is the only one i remember by name) that they would air 2 hours on friday, 2 on saturday, and 2 on sunday while also repeating the prior 2 hours before each airing of the new hour. Under that premise PD could not saying would or should but could posibbly put up a decent number for a one weekend run off.

Nick C, understand my notion was more of a dream scenario that worked in my head. Approximately 6 mil viewers it low for the network but to get something close to that for an event weekend seemed like an interesting notion as promotion for a cable channel that is under the ABC umbrella and could use to advertise other shows on the ABC Family network.

Rob, the show is too expensive. What would the chances be that anyone would tune in to ABC Family to watch? They aren’t good let me tell you.

ABC already made their decision. There will be no new orders for PD. That to me is canceled, but there are others out there who think it means hope.
