NEW YORK – November 11, 2008 – According to Nielsen Media Research data, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" was the most-watched network evening newscast, winning the week of November 3-9. During the week, the Williams-led newscast averaged 9.347 million total viewers – its best total viewer delivery since the first week of the Beijing Olympics, +66K more than ABC "World News'"9.281 million, and a whopping +3.287 million more than CBS "Evening News'" 6.060 million.
On Wednesday night, the day after the Election, "Nightly" delivered a whopping 9.938 million viewers, the best single day delivery since August 11, 2008. Season-to-date, "Nightly" leads ABC by +138K in total viewers, and by +54K in A25-54.
Among A25-54 (000), "Nightly" beat ABC by +45K viewers. Nightly had its best A25-54 rating since the week of August 11, 2008 (first week of Beijing Olympics). On Tuesday (Election Day), Nightly delivered a 2.9 A25-54 rating, the best single day delivery since April 16, 2007 (Virginia Tech massacre). Versus the same week last season, Nightly increased in rating W/M/A25-54 (+8%/+5%/+9%).
On its digital platforms, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" continued its strong performance with more than 4.7 million online streams for the week ending November 8, 2008.
