JAY AND Conan WIN THEIR HOURS OVER ALL REGULAR HEAD-TO-HEAD COMPETITION IN 18-49 AND TOTAL VIEWERS FOR THE WEEK; JAY TOPS ABC'S HOUR AVERAGE FOR 'Nightline' AND KIMMEL, EVEN INCLUDING 'Nightline'S' BIG ELECTION NIGHT BOOST
IN THE VALUABLE 18-34 DEMO, 'Last Call' TIES FERGUSON AND KIMMEL UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – November 13, 2008 – NBC's late-night lineup has won the week of November 3-7, with "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" winning their hours in adult 18-49 viewers and total viewers versus all regular competition.
With all regular late-night programming except ABC's "Nightline" preempted on Tuesday for election coverage, Jay and Conan finished #1 in averages covering the remaining four nights of the week in 18-49 viewers, total viewers and other key categories. Jay also outscored ABC's five-night average for its combination of "Nightline" and the first half of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," even when including the dramatic boost "Nightline" got with its Election Night coverage.
Season to date, at 11:35 p.m. ET, Jay is delivering a 13 percent margin of victory over CBS's second-place "Late Show with David Letterman" in adult 18-49 viewers and a 20 percent advantage in total viewers, while at 12:35 a.m. ET, Conan's leads over CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" are 23 percent in 18-49 and 2 percent in total viewers. Both Jay and Conan pull away among younger adults, with Jay leading the season by a 30 percent margin among adult 18-34 viewers and Conan winning by 55 percent.
For the season through November 7, Jay's average 1.703 million adults 18-49 is topping the 1.506 million of Letterman; in total viewers, Jay's audience of 4.726 million persons beats Letterman's 3.924 million; and in adults 18-34, Jay's 696,000 out-delivers Letterman's 534,000. At 12:35 a.m., Conan's 985,000 adults 18-49 for the week out-scores Craig Ferguson's 798,000; in total viewers, Conan's 1.888 million beats Ferguson's 1.847 million; and in adults 18-34, Conan's 480,000 tops Ferguson's 309,000.
At 1:35 a.m. ET for the week, "Last Call with Carson Daly" tied Ferguson and Kimmel in adult 18-34 rating, with each show averaging a 0.5.
